Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

What pathetic driving!. Firstly he overtook blindly and then saw a bus straight in his path. And he continued and banged into the bus head on!.

Even kids riding tricycles will ride better.

Because it was a bus, he took all the brunt. If it had been another car, he would have taken a few more lives with him.

Ohh, hope we won't end blaming the nearby tea seller also.

What does road marking or engineers can do here when someone decides to pull out a suicidal circus stunt and go under the bus? The bus driver tried evading by turning to the right to avoid a collision. It is easy now to say that the bus driver could have stopped instead and what not. But please understand that in such situations you don't have all the time in the world to decide and the mind may not work and that is why it is an accident.

Nothing freak about it. Choices and consequences. The car driver didn't need to pull that pass at that specific place. If he didn't see oncoming traffic, he had no business pulling that move. If he did see that bus, even more reason to back out. Being 'right' won't help him defy physics. Self-preservation should take precedence over all other considerations, surely?

Yes, he absolutely could have, so could the car driver. Between a car and a bus, the smaller vehicle is likelier to pull off an aborted pass safely (less weight, less momentum to shed).

Nobody's a saint in the situation, just idiots who think physics doesn't apply to them.

Irony of this accident is that this junction has been identified as a "HOT SPOT" and had enough of the In-Famous TamilNadu Barricades to slow down the traffic.

But sadly it was removed for probably & mostly 1 reason - a VIP convoy passing through.

Plus the auto that he overtook just turned right and took a diversion. He could have overtook without actually overtaking. But then we know Indian drivers are addicted to overtaking.

What's the analysis of the near miss?

We can understand that the biker is at fault but there's no reaction from the car till the last moment.

It’s actually sad if you are trivializing the importance of road marking. Recently there was a new road asphalting done (5-lane) towards my route to work and it took a week for the authorities to do road marking and for those 7 days, I found myself floating on the road because of no clear road markings or reference. The designers and the engineers are the first point of contact to eliminate any such concerns.

I’m not talking about any suicidal stunts here, in case of clear road marking, atleast both drivers would have known where they should be. Else the whole road belongs to everyone, and anticipate such crazy stunts.

Sorry but most of the accidents could be avoided on roads by what designs mandates for. Else we will keep blaming suicidal stunts and yes if a tea seller is on the shoulder that’s also a problem.

I don't think it was a near miss, but rather hit & run?
I saw a pedestrian down, flat on his face on the roadside, probably due to the impact of hit

Holy!!! Whatever was going through that bikers mind! I guess the car dude didn't see the Hero merging onto the road like that till the last minute.

And from the looks of it, an innocent bystander got affected :(

Near miss, it’s a plain accident, someone got hit on the sides with a pool of blood !!

Again the side road from where the biker is coming should have a speed breaker to kill his speed before he merges to the secondary/main road or a give way or a stop sign, see again some engineer is to blamed for the accident, else we have enough morons on the roads to carry out suicidal attempts !! Without this It’s just a matter of time for such kind of accidents to happen and someone innocent has to pay the price.

Unfortunately for the car guy he will have to bear the consequences for no fault of his.

The actions of the biker should be considered equivalent to crime committed. He just killed someone

Impossible to digest the fact that few innocent people get to suffer for some stranger's torpid attitude

Let me post a hypothetical scenario. Assuming the car had continued straight in its own lane, would the bus still not have hit the car?

The final collision occurs in the left lane, the bus swings out of its lane and into the oncoming lane for the overtake, and would have hit any law abiding driver occupying the correct lane, or have I completely misread the scenario?

All around bad behaviour by almost every road user and the car came up holding the short straw.

It's very much possible, the biker was continuously in blind spot of car driver due to A-pillar. There's a very good thread started recently that's discussing this on the forum.

The victim biker might have been parked roadside or may have swerved onto the path of the car colliding head on with it while trying to avoid this biker.

Nope, watch it carefully, the bus driver did not expect the car would attempt to come to the left lane. And the moment he figures it out, he tries to swerve right to avoid the car crashing on to it and not for overtaking.

This is a usual scenario in the typical single lane KL roads where the buses drives neck to neck without any margin for errors but here this maneuver by the car must be a totally unexpected thing that anyone would expect.

The car driver should not be where he was, tried to correct it, and it went horribly wrong. The bus driver should not be where he was, tried to correct it, and it went horribly wrong. The car driver is definitely not at fault. He is demonstrating his bravery and skill like most other car drivers from India. The bus driver, well he comes from the illustrious breed of private bus drivers of Kerala and doing what all bus drivers, including his brethren in the KSRTC do so well every day. Clearly not his fault. Blame their fate that they ended up this way. And in case you are wondering what is going on, Brutus is an honorable man.
