It depends. It always depended. If they were doing speed checks, then in a 30MPH limit, even 33 might get a ticket: I speak from experience!.

However, these days, it's not cops, it's cameras. Cameras have no discretion.

While it is devastating for the loved ones of the young souls who lost their lives in the tragic Innova Hycross accident, the biggest takeaway is this - no matter what brand of car you're driving or seated in, and no matter its GNCAP crash rating, nothing can save you if the car is driven recklessly, or, for that matter, if a maniac driving a poorly rated GNCAP car crashes into you at insane speeds - even if you're driving your 'safe car' sensibly or parked somewhere safely.

Not sure if it's right thread to post but this policeman should be appreciated for what he is talking here.

Ironically in our country rarely any policeman knows or cares about laws and proper rules, forget about common people:

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I was going to my hometown today and crossed an accident spot at Yelwala near Mysuru (on the Mysuru to Madikeri highway). The accident had happened just 5 to 10 minutes earlier.

A bus overloaded with people heading to a marriage function lost control due to brake failure. On a downhill road, the driver could not control the bus. He went straight across the busy highway, jumped over the divider and stopped after jumping over a large drainage canal on the other side of the road. I heard that the driver fled the accident spot and a few people in the bus were seriously injured. It looks like a college bus rented for a marriage function.

Fortunately, no other vehicles or people on the busy road were impacted.

How unsafe our roads are. An overloaded bus losing control, crossing a busy highway, jumping the divider, and stopping on the other side of the road. It could be an unfortunate and one off case but we should be very alert and careful while driving.

I recently saw the video of the occupants(now deceased) after the accident, the things that I saw in that video have traumatized me to some extent.
Truly saddening that a moment of fun and adrenaline for those kids have cost 6 families their entire lives.
In our country the culture of 'chaud' (ego/rep/street cred) has claimed a lot of lives already like with this case and also the Pune case and shows no signs of slowing down with influencers putting out videos glorifying high-speed driving and how it is so cool for young, impressionable minds to see and replicate, law enforcement unwilling to be tough of law-breakers and to some extent friends and family enabling it.
As I say-
"A moment of fun , a lifetime of consequences that is if you live through it."

Sorry for the Malayalam content, but watch the video. Scorpio takes out 4 tyres of a KSRTC bus while losing its own tyre.

A speeding Scorpio N hits a KSRTS bus on the rear right at an angle on a curve and dislodges the rear axle of the bus. No casualties.

Great reflexes and spatial awareness from the Merc sedan driver.

What a surgical strike that was! Thankfully nothing happened to the people involved

Gosh! I always thought buses were almost indestructible when up against an ordinary car! I'm sure most bus drivers think that. Here we see it is not the case at all.

May be the car employed some Ben-Hur techniques

The leaf springs are attached to chassis using eye bolts and it's not designed to take that much impact. It's not the first time this has happened.

The amount of dust and sand it hurls to the ground says one thing: poor maintenance and rust.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Experts from Toyota inspected the car involved in the Dehradun crash and suggested that a water bottle stuck under the brakes likely prevented the car from slowing down. Very unfortunate.

Why are they not mentioning anything about them being in a highly drunk state. I am sure the water bottle wouldn't have been near the pedals at the first place if they were in a sane state of mind.
