Just woke up to this news - drunk youth in Vadodara crushed a woman on a 2 wheeler and has injured 7 others. He walks out of the car and asks for “another round” while chanting Om Namah Shivaay

Extremely appalling and saddening - drunk driving in a “dry” state ; drivers thinking they are playing a video game while driving!

Some years in a prison will teach him the lesson. That mostly depends on the views of the judiciary.

What was the passenger saying after he got out of the car?

Boggles my mind just how much of a nincompoop one must be to think they can drive home drunk. Crazy how alcohol dulls the brain and makes you think you are still in control.

Read this on the interwebs many years ago:

If cops are hell bent on catching drunk drivers, why don't they just wait outside bars and pubs?!

Oh well.

The co-passenger was also apparently drunk, but even in that state he still had the sense to try and save himself. He was telling the crowd to catch the driver and let him go. Its not his fault as he was just a co-pax.

Extremely sad news and quite embarrassing as it comes from my home city. Innocent lives lost in a blink of an eye, just because 2 morons wanted to have some fun!!

I pray for the departed souls, speedy recovery to the injured and for God to give strength to their families cope in this tragic time.

Gujarat being a dry state, there are no bars or pubs. They may have got their booze through bootleggers or some contact in the defense canteen or themselves smuggled it from outside.

I may be wrong here, but they’re way too much “in senses” for alcohol. It seems like drugs seeing how active the driver was and how he was screaming his lungs out. It’s quite an active thread on Reddit and so far the driver has has “apologised” and made quite an idiotic theory that he clipped someone at 60kmph and his airbags blew up causing him to lose control and hit the victims.

Another CCTV angle shows him speeding way beyond 60 and hitting the vehicles, and it looks very much intentional(imo). The entire right side of the road was clear and he steered towards the two wheelers, which also explains him screaming “Another round” after coming out.

Had to break it off with my best friends from school because right when they got a bit of freedom they started activities like this. Glad to see I made the right decision there.

That other cctv angle is interesting. I wish it contained information of few pixels at the top near where the divider goes out of frame, from the headlights in that area of the frame and the direction of the two wheeler which was struck first, it seems like there might be an intersection or a break in the divider. Would be nice to get an understanding about that if you are aware of the exact spot on the road in your town where this happened.

As for intentionally mowing down the people I highly doubt that. He could’ve simply steered left out of instinct in terms of where to stop the car and hit the other two wheeler even more unfortunately. Looks like a very unfortunate accident and I hope a comprehensive route to justice is reached. You simply don’t go that fast on such a road, and if the state is issuing licenses willy nilly, you will always have youngsters queuing up to make the same reckless mistakes. On top of that if the parents also cannot educate their kids before allowing them to show off in their new purchase, we will never stop seeing such news. Both the parents and the state have to reform and I hope these victims don’t die/suffer in vein. That first video was really shocking to see people just lying on the road like that. Gut wrenching what happened

Here’s a video circulating on Twitter explaining the entire circus around the boy (driver) -

There is no intersection on that road at the point where he hit the first two wheeler. I have been on that road quite a number of times.

He was telling the people that the driver was a lunatic (he used a bit more colourful language) and that the mob should beat the driver and not him since he wasn't the one driving.

An interesting thing here is, that the car did not belong to the driver. It was someone else’s, maybe the passenger’s but the driver has publicly stated that the car he was driving wasn’t his own, but some friend’s. Apparently the Virtus sports mode was too much to handle.

That’s interesting. Is there a makeshift break in the divider that two wheelers can exploit? I ask because right after he mows down the 1st two wheeler, another ones headlights can be seen approaching from a weird angle that suggests there is a point on the road where two wheelers can cross the divider. Obviously only better footage from the accident site will help up ascertain for sure but if that is the case, it could explain why the youngster was speeding so much. Perhaps he also knew that no one is supposed to be able to come out onto the right lane from the other side but was caught off guard when it happened?

I am very curious about the point where the divider meets the end of the frame. Could you perhaps drop a pin on google maps and share the location? Street view might help us ascertain the possibility of two wheelers crossing the divider.

From the video it doesn’t look like he needed a reason to speed. Looking at the arrogance with which he walked out of the car, no sign of remorse, I don’t think any of these things crossed his mind. He was clearly playing a video game in his brain, and was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

And now from what I am seeing in the news, it’s a déjà vu feeling of the Pune accident - that guy was asked to write an essay and left Scot free - this guy is giving a theory that the airbags burst on his face and he didn’t know what he was doing after that - absolute nonsense in my opinion.

I am deeply concerned about the future our kids, there seems to be no value for human life, no fear of the law and no justice for the victims. I am sure these bunch of idiots will be given bail and they will live another day to take someone else life.

Correction - he was not "asked to write an essay and left Scot free". The trial is underway. The essay was a condition for bail - which too was illegal because courts are not allowed to impose such whimsical conditions for bail. Bail ≠ scot free. And to say a person should be in jail pending trial means 'innocent until proven guilty' goes for a toss. Yes, our legal system is quite bad, but the solution is not to make it worse and say basic human rights a goodbye.

The theory here is nonsense, sure. That has nothing to do with the legalities of the other incident.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

As per media reports, the driver has admitted to consuming bhaang (cannabis) before the incident. The drink is known to cause hallucinations, which explains his puzzled reaction on coming out of the car.

Edit: Statement from one of the victims. The self control and clarity of thought this little boy has makes me

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

A gruesome accident happened on 14.03 during noon at around 1.00 pm. The Mahindra XUV 700 carrying five youngsters and being driven by a 19 year old man was heading from Wardha towards Nagpur. The SUV carrying three had moved to Wardha (about 85 kms from Nagpur) to fetch a friend and his sister for Holi celebrations at Nagpur. While at a T point junction of the flyover, where the NH 44 crosses the Nagpur-Wardha road, instead of taking the NH 44 towards Nagpur, the driver veered towards the Hyderabad direction. Confused soon after, he tried to reverse while moving at a speed and dashed the flyover boundary wall. The XUV 700 landed 50 feet below at the ground level. One 18 year old Class XI student- passenger was killed on the spot, the sole female passenger aged 21 was critically injured ( now hospitalized), while the other three escaped with injuries. The rear seat passengers were not wearing seat belts and hence the airbags at the rear did not deploy, while the front airbags did.

Accidents in India | Pics & Videos-nagpur-city-line_20250316.jpeg
The XUV 700's A and B pillars on its left side were not much deformed though the roof was ripped apart.

The newslink:-
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/.../119054334.cms

Villagers from the nearby Ruikheda village reached the site and helped police in their rescue efforts. The police have collected blood samples from all the youths to check if at all they were intoxicated.

The accident was a result of recklessness and impatience on the part of the driver who appears to be inexperienced and was evidently driving the SUV at a high speed. Also, our road signs at major intersections on highways are almost non existent and if at all present, most afford a poorly visibility to drivers.
