Almost got featured in this thread due to something that happened yesterday evening on my way back from work.
I was driving my car around 45kmph on the road between Jahangir hospital and RTO/ Sangam bridge around twilight/ 7pm ish. This road is 4 laned with proper dividers (no breaks) and sees a lot of vehicles speeding. Just after the stretch parallel to Pune railway station, I found something odd because I could not see the taillights of the vehicles in front of me. I pumped the brakes and reduced speed; I guess this is what saved me as I could brake hard when I saw a truck (the big ones carrying gas cylinders). It was trying to reverse into a gate at the left side of the road. The truck was perpendicular to the road and had blocked around 80% of it.
I shudder to think what would have happened if I had continued at my original speed. Tbone comes to mind. I actually felt my knees shivering so pulled over for a couple of minutes, got my breath back and then proceeded homeward.

My point is: how do we spot bad drivers when we cannot spot the vehicle itself?

very sad, but how come there is a dent in the rear left of the car?
Did some vehicle hit it which made it to fall in the water?

Also there are dents on the bumper after the car is removed out.
Is the bumper so weak that it can deform by a crane's textile belt??

I cant notice any dents in the rear bumper on the other pic (where car is drowned). So, whatever caused the dent must be during the rescue operation.

One accident that makes me . I guess the electricals of the car would have to be thoroughly checked but not much more damage might have happened.

There is not even much of a slope anywhere near the car in the pictures - the guy didn't even care to use a handbrake.

The car seems to have been hit from behind; see the reddish dent on top of the boot.

Also, the pavement has a 90-deg drop; so had the car rolled by itself, it would have got stuck on the underbelly and not actually rolled all the way down.

that's right, there is a dent on the top left side of the bootlid.

The pavement has a 90 degree drop, but the edge is kind of gradual - a car may gain suddent momentum when the wheels go suddenly down the edge, and the momentum (+ weight of the engine in front) may carry it. In any case the news report doesn't mention a hit from another vehicle.


Whatever happened, simply putting the handbrakes on would have saved the hassle.

this happened two cars ahead of me on my way to office this morning (Forum Mall junction Koramangala). the Endy (i think) rear-ended the yellow Indica cab; just touched the rear bumper, but both the drivers were arguing like the world had come to an end. needless to say, they caused a traffic jam!

3 hatch bangup on the expressway today morning.
right when the road splits for IGI and staraight, down, towards gurgaon.
it happened on the extreme right lane.

last one was a wagonR.
The first car, as i was driving away, i think i saw a flash of a TBHP sticker.
not entirely sure.
any body else saw this?

I do not know if this was an accident or a murder, but:
On the road that connects the Hill gate of Lalbagh to the "Floral park" gate, not far beyond the signal that branches into to JC road / Basavanagudi, probably close to the Islamic institution, there was a crowd of people, a handful of Police Cheetas, a hoyasala & policeman surrounding a bed of flowers, on which lay a motionless, face down corpse, and another cloth bag like thing, that could have been another mutilated corpse.
There were no damaged vehicles or banged up bikes nearby, and two women sat on the footpath, wailing.

I told my driver about it later; he said it could be murder; but I still give it the benefit of doubt.

Does anyone know about what exactly happened?
My heart cries out to the bereaved families.

Looks like parking vehicles in neutral gear has become the trend in my city. The 3rd such incident lately.

May be they are trying to wring some money out of insurance. I've heard of lorry drivers/owners do the same.
