Modern cars are built to collapse in stages to be able to absorb the impact. It's not the external damage that matters but the safety of the occupants and intrusion in the cabin.

Even I feel so, considering that Indica was travelling at 100+ speeds, looks like Laura took all the impact!!!

OP said the A pillar was damaged, could not gather any!!

Shock absorption by the crumple zones etc.
technically what is not absorbed on the outside, is passed on to the inside.
Considering that, the skoda would have kept its occupants less "bounced around".

It's not tata build. It's wrong interpretation of safety. Don't want to be in a shock chamber during an accident. Better, the car takes the impact and not me. Remember, any impact force which is not taken by the car, will be directly transferred to the occupants' body. As rightly said by .anshuman

That is a horrific crash. The dashboard of the Vista looks intact, I wonder what is the state of the pedals, The A pillar looks little crumpled. The front left side of Vista has taken the impact and deformed accordingly.

The windshield on the Vista has a crack. No seatbelts?

Crazy people! Why would anyone drive at 100+ in a city!!

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Recently seen a video on facebook - a horrible thing to see, three young guys probably in their late teens ran over by a truck - two of them were still alive, out of which one guy was actually sitting up on the road and looking at his own leg which is thrashed beyond recognition (It had to be amputated for sure to save his life) and the other guy lying down on the road, and trying to wake up but his lower body didn't respond. Shockingly, there was a hole like injury at the back of his head and his eye balls were kind of popped out. Some 'onlookers' were feeding him water. After a while he passed out.

There was another body lying on the roadside at a distance, which seemed lifeless. The lorry's tire had left a trail of at least 15 meters of blood and human flesh.

The truck's registration was 'MYZ' or something.

Anyone know where this happened and how? The video title was something like "Don't drink and drive, because I don't wanna lose my friends" in SMS lingo.

BTW, please do not search and watch this video if you are faint hearted.

Mate I watched that just before going to bed. I could not sleep for next two hours. Thank god I didn't have any nightmares.

The guy who shot the video actually shot everything up close. No one was trying to help the victims, or from the video it looked like that. The guy with the lost leg was actually saying something like "Oh no.."

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I remember watching this video also. strictly not for the faint hearted that.
It was one real bad accident.

Unfortunately I had seen a similar accident right infront of my house around 2 years ago.
I had just left my home on my pulsar on the ORR near Kathriguppe.
On the opposite side of the road, a truck had ran over a leg of a person and similar to that video, he too was alive and looking at what was his leg a few minutes ago.
Everybody rushed to him and gave him water.
Just the sight of that accident literally brought tears in my eyes...The first time that tears had come from my eyes without anything happening to me.

Four students killed in car crash near Chennai

Four students studying in same college were killed in car crash in Madhavaram in Chennai early morning today.

Their car hit a stationary lorry parked on the road due to heavy mist early morning. May their soul RIP.

One can say it happened due to mist and the lorry parked on the road but I would attribute some part of it to the non-anticipatory style of driving done by many youngsters. If there's mist, one should not drive at high speeds.

It is wrong to feed water to accident victims. They might have internal injuries and mixing water might aggravate and create complications.

I agree with you. They were at high speed when they hit the lorry and some of their other 4 friends on 2 bikes were following their car.

They had rented the car for a trip around chennai to spend their vacation.
