re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Spotted 2 accidents today morn while heading to work:

a. A Wagon R and a truck carrying aggregate:

Accidents in India | Pics & Videos-wp_20150508_07_35_45_pro.jpg

Accidents in India | Pics & Videos-wp_20150508_07_36_02_pro.jpg

Both were located some 20 m apart. The truck’s axles were broken and the Wagon R’s front bumper was stuck in the rear wheels of the truck. The debris was strewn all over the road. Possibly a overtaking maneuver gone wrong. I was scared to go near the Wagon R to click the close-ups.

b. A bulk cement carrier toppled:

Excessive speed while negotiating the turn from the service lane? Cement carriers have a high CG and there’s a good chance of a roll over if it does not negotiate a turn slowly.

Cannot make out much of the WagonR. How bad was the state of the car? Impact effected the interiors as well I am sure? Driver ok, any idea?

Woah john.gt, any info on how that Fabia ended up in that state ??

I can imagine loosing control when trying to avoid an obstacle at high speeds, but this is a first for me on how it managed to land on the other car in that way.

Looks like the Fabia driver walked out of this and hopefully there were no serious injuries to the Etios occupants or the others around.

Kerala RTC Volvo had met with an accident near Hosur. Could have been worse if it had ploughed into the dispenser unit.

From the little I can see of the damage to the bus, I wonder - is the petrol bunk built of Lego blocks? On that note, maybe the Bangalore civic authorities can borrow these buses for their demolition drive in parts of Bangalore, instead of using JCBs?

What could be the reason behind KSTRC publishing this on their own FB page ?
Surely its not a advertisement of their services or good public relations material.
Or did they want to inform the passengers relatives in this way about the accident?

This is the bunk where I fill all my vehicles almost every alternate day!!

I crossed it today without turning my head towards it, else would have seen this, if not been a part of this incident.

I made a quick call to a my jeep mechanic who has his workshop right behind this bunk and learnt that the "KSRTC Volvo bus driver sensed a total loss of brake pressure, decided to crash-stop the bus with minimal loss to life and limb and found this relative empty bunk at wee hours to stop the vehicle".

I cannot begin to imagine how crowded this bunk usually gets during peak hours and what could have been the other outcome of this decision.

The distance between the turn and the final resting place is over 200-meters and there are better places to ditch the bus, but since no one other than the driver can make the judgement call, I cannot comment on the choice of the location.

I think KSRTC does not have an official FB page.

Lucky you, it could have been worse if it was crowded again why on earth the driver took a risk to stop this mammoth hitting on a petrol bunk and not something else?

Cheers!

A terrible accident near Mangalore where a young couple lost their lives in a brand new, unregistered I-20 after falling into a river at high speeds.

The girl is yet to be identified!!!

The report says the driver lost control while overtaking another vehicle at high speed. The central locking is also being blamed - rescuers could not open the doors.

By the way, the car is not new. This is a previous generation i20 and looks like the number plates got dislodged. The girl has been identified.
