This is indeed a sad news to hear. MVD says that the driver might have slept and there was no sign of braking the car before the accident. The driver was just 19 years old.

CCTV cameras have caught the accident and the video is available in this link. The car goes into the wrong lane and hits the lorry.

Well, whatever the charge was before (real or made up), it's now got 'wilfully endangering an on-duty law enforcement official' tacked onto it.

P.S. Extra 'stupid' points for shooting self-incriminating evidence and posting it publicly!

Would have been fatal if the car fell down. Most probably she would not have buckled up too. Any way the car as well as the wall played their part in protecting their owner

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This happened a couple of days back in Pune.
According to the news reports, the bike was going fast for that road. An auto emerges from a lane and collides with the bike on it's side.

The rider, along with his bike, gets dragged and comes in the path of an oncoming PMPML bus & is killed.

Bikers do drive rashly especially when in groups. Its very common to see superbikes speeding on this road early morning on weekends.
Even though road is smooth its a very narrow road, and I agree the biker was as fault here.

I happen to know this person - he used to deliver milk to our house. He seemed to be riding too fast on a road as busy as Tilak Road with its numerous side lanes, many emerging at acute angles.

The family is obviously shocked - but there is no remedy for such losses - until people have the self discipline to obey speed limits and drive defensively.

The CCTV coverage would has saved the bus driver from a lot of trouble. He did well to stop - but no helmet at that speed crashing into a 12 tonne bus leaves you with no hope. I doubt if a helmet would have helped too.

I'm not trying to sound insensitive or be a jerk .. but, he was riding a Kawasaki Z900, hardly something a milk delivery man would ride.

Well, you are actually referring to a different accident and getting confused with other one.

Couldn't find any other news item or more details.
This route is more prone to such accidents. Didn't a similar accident happen a couple of months back with an Omni head-on colliding with a private bus when the bus was overtaking another vehicle?

Don't underestimate milkmen from Aundh/Baner - One of them has been mayor of the city and many have made a lot of money via land deals when this area saw price breakouts due to IT industry growth in nearby Hinjewadi IT park.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

A woman was injured when she was thrown out from the backdoor of a Kerala RTC bus. Incident happened when the bus was coming out of Vythiri bus stand, Wayanad. According to the reporter, the woman walked towards the door as the bus was nearing her destination. She has been admitted to the medical college and is undergoing treatment.

Certain observations :
1. Lady shouldn't have stood near the door step in the first place.
2. The driver shouldn't have started the bus without closing the door, as it is pneumatically operated and the controls are with him.
3. The conductor should've made sure sure that the door was closed before he gave the double bell, giving the driver the go ahead signal.
4. The private bus driver was able to spot her in time and averted a sure tragedy.
5. She clearly suffered head/neck injury. Time and again we're seeing people rushing in and picking up the injured without due care. I know that they're doing this with the right intentions. But we really need to advocate that it'll probably do more harm than good. In this case, since it's a town, an ambulance and trained personnel would've been available nearby. They should've informed them instead of using an auto rickshaw.
