If you have insurance you dont need to worry what needs to be repaired and what not, thats the job of insurance team at your A.S.S. With zero dep insurance only fluids etc would need to be paid by you depending on policy plus file charges. I think the money you need to pay in end should be under 5k + loss of NCB. Once repaired just drive and see how car feels and ensure paint is matched 100%. With damage case they will replace parts that need to be replaced, nobody repairs parts at service centers. What exactly is your concern i am a bit confused.

Also did the tire really burst ? any pics of the burst tire?

A police escort vehicle (TUV) in AP minister's convoy toppled on ORR Hyderabad today leaving one dead and 3 constables injured.

I have seen these escort vehicles creating ruckus on motorways while in convoys. They drive as if rules ain't applicable to them. May the departed be at peace!

A few points from my end:

• Those rims look pathetic to me. If this is how Tata wants to build a tough car and gives those rims which have neatly bent where there is no spoke, then I am unsure how the rim can take impact. I believe the tyre hit a stone or the pavement block which led to the rim deforming and loss of pressure and then this accident. There is no way even the worst of tyres will burst so soon and at such a low speed. Also, low tyre pressure also looks to be the culprit, if you notice how much the rim has been bent. Also, please tell your cousin to change those rims with the regular steel rims with wheel caps or alloys. I am not sure how rigid the current design is, looking at this damage.
• Regarding the estimate, its normal for the estimate to be inflated such that all the parts which the ASC slightly feels there is a risk of damage will be included. This estimate is submitted for approval to insurance, but does not mean everything will be approved for change or will be replaced. The final bill will be lower than the estimate. This is a usual practice since once the insurance claim approval is given, revising the estimate to a higher value is a tough task. Hence, in the estimate every part that might have the slightest chance of being replaced will be added. Later the surveyor will scrutinize this record.
• You can view all the replaced parts or maybe the high value ones to make sure everything is replaced and not repaired. The insurance company will also do it but these days surveyors have a good nexus with the dealers and might not be so trustworthy.
• And as Turbanator mentioned, that ASC is dismantling the car in some dirty place. Some small bits are bound to get missed without a clean floor and it might lead to niggles later.

If you must get the car repaired here and are oK with such conditions, tell them to keep old parts as well packing of new parts separately for inspection purposes.

Your insurance company will have the right of these parts but you can mark these with a grinder or better cut or dent so that they don't use back the same parts anywhere.

Yes, these are from authorized service centre, from an small town/village. This estimate was received from ASC advisor & I've asked my cousin to get it via email with all standard details. Still waiting for it.

Due to lockdown/restrictions & current scenarios, moving around with this vehicle is not a viable option to the owner.

Happened in Angamaly, Kerala. As per the descrition in youtube, the pedestrian lost his life. At the wrong place at a wrong time. He must have been walking to his home. How sad.

Looks like aquaplaning to me.

The static water puddles and high speed is a deadly combination, unfortunately in this case that pedestrian ended up being at the receiving end of it.

I experienced it first hand recently, due to a poorly lit section, misjudged and hit a puddle on the road at considerable speed and my XUV was floating for fraction of a second, luckily got out of the situation without getting hurt or causing any damage to the car.

I always try to be extra careful in rainy condition, while a certain percentage of our road users tends to get all groovy during rains and throw all caution to the wind.

This simply reiterates the point I made yesterday. A collision between a smaller vehicle and a larger one is almost always guaranteed to result in a negative outcome for the former.

On the contrary, I feel the City's crumple zones did it's job perfectly.

Now a days, vehicles are designed so that on such frontal collision, bonnet rolls back and thus avoid damage to the vehicle at front and thus injuries to the passengers, in this case a Nano.

Also you can see the passenger cabin is intact in the City.
