Aditya, Digital Vampire has mentioned in his post that one Wipro Employee & a cab driver perished in that pile-up! None of this was reported in the newspapers here!

More
More than the drivers here, the guys who dug up that pit are to be blamed.

EDIT: But still, on second thoughts, the pit seems to be on the extreme left and lots of road space on the right. Was the driver over-taking from the left?

Pulsar56, The whole stretch is a one-way . It is the Saidapet taluk office road , the road on which the magistrate court is located.

A motorist died after he was knocked down from his two-wheeler by a speeding car on Taluk Office Road, Saidapet, on Sunday. He fell into a huge pit and died on the spot. The car also plunged into the pit. Police suspect that the car driver was under the influence of alcohol.

RIP Capt. A great loss to our Punjab. I used to see him couple of times a month in his official camry in around Chandigarh. A sad way to go like this.

Truck Accident on NH-46 Off Arcot

Saw this tragic accident while travelling to Bangalore from Chennai, on NH just off Arcot on the Bridge across the river on Sunday afternoon

A truck had swerved right (Could see the tyre marks on the road), broken the barrier of the bridge and fell down approx 25ft into the river bed below upside-down. By the looks of it, no survivors.

Villagers on speeding bikes going the wrong way with blatant disregard for any road sensibilities are a common occurrence on this stretch and often prove fatal (mostly to the guys trying to avoid them). Looking at the crowd gathered the accident looked pretty fresh.

When you are reaching this flyover (Chennai --> Bangalore) its a left hand curve which reaches the flyover.

Its not just bikers who come in the opposite direction, I have seen Trucks & Buses coming your way.

I went past this junction few minutes before you ( i crossed you near Kanchipuram), there was total confusion and people started to run to the right side of the bridge. We didnt stop over . I have asked about this in another thread!

The car driver was drunk. He hit a two wheeler that was avoiding another car and both of them landed in the pit that was dug up on the left. The two wheeler guy perished. The accident happened at 2 PM, so that guy was drunken driving in the middle of the day! The Chennai corporation is also being questioned as to why the pits that have been dug have no barricades or signs.

Hey zibby, what the hell happened here? looks like the passengers realised that the engine compartment was smoking so they decided to abandon the vehicle.

I'm really scared now .. Look at this accident!

"The accident occurred as the one of the rear tyres of the car ruptured" "The car, which lost its velocity and balance, swerved to the roadside and hit a tree there before coming to a stop after tumbling into the field. The car was turned into a mound of mangled metal because of the impact." 4 died!

We need to learn from such incidents & ensure that we slow down, while we cross those crowded small packets.

Also I have observed when we have to cross the road, we slowly walk across with a confidence of measuring the exact momentum. During such times I imagine what the driver would be thinking of "Morons"
