Yesterday i saw a merc s class and a skoda superb get into an accident at breach candy area by scraping against each other from the sides. Scratches to both cars on the side and broken ORVMS. Seeing the skoda thread, guess who will foot a bigger repairs bill in the future??? I just couldn't stop laughing!!!

You should park at safe spot with blinkers on and inquire about the hold up. What ever language the reponder answers there will be something like 'accident', get the hint and check your aternatives/options.

Not really an accident. The front wheel along with the brake drum got separated. The brake shoes were still intact at the hub.

Autowallahs almost always scount around for someone to be the fall guy/s and pick up the damages ! It's a habit with them, second nature !

Swift D in A2B

Came across this Swift Diesel being towed off in Shoolagiri, (actually the Tow Truck stopped for fuel at A2B) last week. By the looks of it, seems to be quite a crash.

I was impressed by the "Crash-Worthiness" of the Swift, despite the heavy damages up front and some at the back, the cabin withstood the crash and there was no hint of any damage in the cabin

The passenger side of the swift windshield seems dented rather than being cracked. Weird!

The windshield has lot of cracks, which are not so visible due to the dust and the lighting. It appears dented because some some kind of windshield film is holding it together.

Thats because all automotive galsses are laminated and toughened to avoid injury to passengers.
In a laminated glass in two layers of glass are stuck together with a plastic sheet in the middle.
Toughened feature of a glass makes it break resistant upto a large amount of force and even if they break, they will do so in such a manner that only small fragments are created and not glass dust or large pieces with sharp edges.

That is not true.
My friend had an accident on Hosur road last year in a Tata Sumo. It was a recklessly driven BPO sumo. At the end of it the vehicle was fine, but an iron rod penetrated the passenger compartment and went through my friends leg. Passenger compartment getting compromized is a serious security risk.

The whole idea of a good design is that the vehicle takes all the damage and protects it's occupants. Remember the BMW ad - Spare parts for humans are not as original as they are for the cars.
