Unfortunately this is how people cross the road as if they are walking on a lawn, without any sense of urgency and expecting the speeding vehicles to stop. In this case, he was walking right in the middle of the curvy road (read blind-spot). The Fortuner driver spotted him too late, managed to stop yet had to pay with his life. Extremely unfortunate that the sand laden truck (too fast at the curve given the heavy unstable load) couldn't retain its composure.

Did the Fortuner driver want to take the right or U turn? Or was he planning to go straight?

If he wanted to take the turn, he was a a bit fast (for a big SUV). If wanted to turn, did he put on his blinker? The truck behind the SUV was definitely too fast. Never seen trucks topple on braking like this, not even when coming down ghats.
Pedestrian is at fault, but the truck driver should have left enough space given his load and braking/handling (dis) ability.
If Fortuner wanted to turn he was also a bit fast and not indicating (not sure)

Everyone was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is never acceptable to run over a pedestrian --- but wandering around in the middle of roads is not a good idea.

I guess that the truck go flipped by mounting whatever is on the ground on his right. But surprising.

This is one bizarre accident. I could see a cloud of dust before the auto took off, is that because of a tyre burst? A suspension failure?

Pedestrians take a risk everytime they cross the road amidst traffic. We tend to accept crossing the road at any point as a normal thing to do. Both the above accidents clearly show otherwise.
Marked pedestrian crossings, some regulation, more signals, overhead crossings should steadily be increased.

Seems to have happened during the wee hours today on Adugodi Main road intersecting with Langford Road (CMP Junction).

A certain case of the cab hitting the median and then flipping over and landing "safely" on that footpath.

This stretch from Shoolay Circle side does not have a median from Baldwin's College all the way till this junction and is a super wide road that many motorists easily ignore the red light at this junction and march ahead. At times, they even overtake completely ignoring the yellow stripes and then sneak in ahead near the signal where the median begins again.

A regular road user like a cabbie cannot miss this unless he was really overconfident that he could manage getting on the left side of the median right in time during that overtaking maneuver or a clear case of drowsiness or DUI.

The speeds must have been higher too the way the cab has flipped over and the fact that its mostly the wheel that has hit the median first rather than anything else.

Yes. Noticed this just now on the way to office. Hope the riders are safe.

Traffic never used to be jammed usually here before 8 am. But it is slow moving today and took 30mins to cross from Forum mall side.

A 27-year-old Uber cab driver was killed after a speeding BMW hit his vehicle near IIT Flyover on Outer Ring Road in South Delhi on Sunday night. The accused, a young man in his early twenties according to witnesses, is on the run.

Dileep, who was at the spot during the time of the accident and helped to evacuate Nazrul from his car, said the speed of the BMW was very high when it hit Nazrul’s Wagon R from behind.

Even as the cops were waiting for the BMW to be towed away from the busy road, another vehicle rammed into it. Nearly two hours after the first accident, a speeding SUV rammed into the stranded BMW. As people gathered around the offending vehicle and made attempts to stop it, the woman driving it sped away. Nobody was injured this time.

However, it has passed time and will NEVER EVER happen, ((Marked pedestrian crossings, some regulation, more signals, overhead crossings)).

Even the educated dont wait at a RED SIGNAL then what can you expect from the illiterate.

All you do as your part is, educate everyone you know just to be EXTRA EXTRA careful, cause in general very FEW understand speed limits, pedestrian crossings, give way, cyclists, motorcyclists first above all traffic sense and machine capability.

More information on this accident here. According to the report the bike was a gift from his father on his 18th birthday and was going to college with a pillion. No protective gear except for a helmet worn by the rider.

Article also mentions about another fatal accident on a HD 750 bike just days before this incident.

The Diavel accident. If you check the number plate on Car Info app, it returns a entirely different name of a owner. I googled on that name and found a few references of a guy who has been associated with powerful bikes.
