Quite common in this season. Even standing beside the road is not safe forget taking vehicles out.

While its advised to wait for ambulance/paramedics instead of moving the victims, not sure how relevant it is in countries like ours, where no one know if the ambulance is about to come, or when its expected to come. May be helping during the "golden hour" can help save the victim...just a thought though.

Techie, on way home after night shift, burnt to death in moving car. According to media report short circuit is the reason of accident. The deceased couldn't get out in time while his 10 year old ford ikon caught fire while driving.

Minor Accident captured on my dash cam yesterday at Pune's Bhumkar Chowk. With everyone always trying to be the first to go through intersections, these accidents are inevitable. Luckily it was at low speed and no one was badly injured.

At Bankapur Toll Gate. Not sure how the bus came in contact with toll booth protection guard. I reached just after the accident and two lanes were blocked at that time.

Looks like the Superb picked up a piece of the guardrail and then literally got anchored. There is some loose dirt visible in one of the photos, is that from the car or guardrail digging into the road?

Reported in today's papers. Wonder how the truck driver got the message - but hats off to him.

While this is definitely a 'kudos' effort on their part, is it me only who thinks completely stopping the bus after ramming the truck at the earliest possible opportunity (using the truck in the front as a stoppage) and get the passengers down till help arrives to repair the brakes was the first and last option they should have tried for safety?

What would you do in a panic situation ? You have 40 lives in your hands.

That particular section of road is generally good, fairly wide for two vehicles, and easy have a run-away bus on those turns. If the bus had been left to gain speed, sooner than later, the bus would have hit either the hill-side or gone down.

I guess I wasn't clear articulating what I thought. I meant, brakes have failed and the bus has rammed the truck ahead to slow down or stop and after repeated rams the truck driver has understood and is cooperating. At this stage,

1) Both the vehicles slowly come to halt on the roadside (with failed bus resting on the truck)?
2) The bus brakes have failed but handbrake (do buses have those?) or else putting the slowed down (or by now stopped) bus in gear to halt it permanently at the roadside till help arrives?

Aren't these two feasible and doable and much more common sense to do rather than risking lives of 40 still inside when the immediate emergency is resolved with the help of truck?

I am sure I might be missing something here. Just a curiosity nothing else !

The question being asked here is: The bus lost brakes and hit the lorry.
The lorry driver understood the message that he had extra luggage on his rear
and he started acting as the sole braking source for the entourage. So, instead of navigating down the slopes for 4 KM with 40 lives at risk, shouldn't he be using the available braking power, bring the bus to a halt at the earliest possible opportunity and save lives? 4 boulders under the wheels of the bus would have helped the lorry driver carry on with his regular duties much earlier.

2 die in road accident at Sakleshpur. I was on my way back to Bangalore yesterday and was at the spot after about 20-30 min of the incident. Seeing the state of the car we were sure the chances of survival was very less.
