Not only did the car arrive at the turn quite fast as per CCTV footage, the driver also took off reasonably fast after checking the damage, seemingly unmoved about the incident and not continuing slowly from thereon. This time he was lucky, thats all.

He could not believe what just happened and how lucky he was so he decided to take a day off to relax ( Truck hit a pole and cable broke and fell in front of him. May be he thought that it was live electric wire).

This has been shared few months back in this very thread.

Maybe he would have thought all the driving aids techs that Mercedes has, will take care of the slippery surface, like TC, ESP. Reasons for skid can be -

- Aquaplaning
- Higher speed + Slippery surface + earlier and jerkier steering wheel turn
- As someone mentioned, varying tyre pressures.

Aquaplaning and skidding are not the same. Many people think the words are interchangeable: no, they are not. Aquaplaning is a very specific phenomenon.

That vehicle took away the second pole with it swiftly like in GTA game! THus caused the wire to snap and that scared the man.
Surprising how the vehicle didn't wrap around that pole. Maybe it had a weak base.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I think its the sedan's mistake. The driver should have slowed down and checked if it is safe to cross. Also, lack of traffic lights is the main reason . But in the absense of traffic lights, one should always give way and not disrupt the general direction of traffic flow.

That man was just unlucky. He was cautious enough while crossing. Sad to see such incidents where life is lost without own mistake. But that person near the bike should have been well away from the road, instead of being near the edge.

Being even at the side of the road but not looking at traffic, is a very dangerous thing. Perhaps if he was not busy doing something and looking at the traffic, he might have had enough time to react and run away from the pick up.

2 youngster aged 20 and 15 died on spot while a Dump truck carrying M sand ran over from behind.

In puducherry, husband dies and wife struggles with severe injury when a container truck hit them. The lorry driver turned left to enter the factory without looking at the sides. An outcome of missing the blind spot and careless driving by the lorry driver. He never showed any signs of making a turn. Sad incident for the couple.

Saw this on Hoskote flyover earlier today, while driving towards Kolar. Damage to the Etios was significant after it was rear ended by a scooter.

Feels so sad everytime I see accidents out of pure carelessness and which could have been easily avoided by following some basic driving/ riding manners. In this case, I think both are at mistake.

Lorry driver should have been more careful with checking left side mirror. Also, I cannot see indicator light of the lorry. Though, I think he might have checked the left ORVM few seconds earlier but since scooty was at high speed, it was far and might not have been visible to the driver on the ORVM. By the time he started to turn, scooty came too close. Having said that, when you are in charge of driving a big lorry, there is no margin of error at all.

The scooty rider should have turned way earlier from where he actually started to turn, and at a lower speed. I guess he might have thought lorry will go straight. Don't know if he honked at the lorry. Being in India, I do not believe in No-honking thing. Though, I do not support honking when it can done without.

This wide-turning thing is so common with a lot of bikers. Very annoying when I encounter one while driving.

There are so many accidents in this thread involving pedestrians and bikes. Even though I love bikes, there is that safety thing which is always at the back of my mind, thus not allowing me to buy one .

They must have been really speeding end up like that, without any attention too.

The truck is also to blame for its design. The overhang is excessive and there are no underpass guards to prevent this.

Glad to know all passengers survived. I thought this sharp metal part of truck protruded into the cabin and hit the driver as it pierced into the car towards driver side seat. The truck should have had proper rear and side under ride guards.

The truck that went from his left side took a pole down.

At 0.08, you will notice that a cable [to my eyes, it looked like a telephone cable though] falls near him. He might have taken it to be an electric cable and ran for his life.
