Oh, God! It took a few mins for me to regain my wits from the horror of this accident. I do pray that the car and truck guys get over the trauma. May the two-wheeler guy's soul rest in peace.

Life is as fragile as thin glass as-is. When will humans learn that they need to practice safety.

Safety at wheels is a concept. Thad is an emotion

Those type of drivers are becoming an endangered species on our roads nowadays.

Might be slight exaggeration. But another thing to note is that a commuter bike driven at 70+ feels "faster" compared to a higher capacity/heavy bike. My Royal Enfield for that matter comes to a halt the moment I release the pressure on the accelerator!

That is a Kia Sonet. Looks like it was sandwiched between two vehicles.

thanks for the correction. Sonnet it is!

I wonder if the sunroof in all these cars poses as a threat, given that it is glass and in a crash like this can cave in lodge in the head/ body?

I'd hope that they are made out of laminated glass like windscreens, so that they would break into tiny pieces

The bike was not traveling at 110-120kph for sure. The dial that the cop shows is analog and it can rotate freely if the impact is near the instrument cluster. If required, the cop could have rotated the dial with his finger to get the desired speed. A bike colliding anywhere near 100 kph will mostly have the whole front wheel and fork sheared off. The rider would also have much severe injuries.

On a side note, this is the first time I am seeing a video by the Cyberabad police, but is showing the victim's dead body a common practice followed by the channel? Usually, the police's first priority is to move the victim (alive or dead) from the spot. But here the rider is literally left to rot while the cop takes a video. I have never seen this behavior before, especially for fatal crashes. I am also curious to know what exactly is the cop saying (I got some pieces here and there). Can anybody please give a short translation?

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Horrific accident happened 200 meters from my home. This is a quiet and peaceful stretch at Motera (Ahmedabad) closer to the airport and the newly opened stadium as well. Last night at 9pm a speeding Kia Seltos driven by a 36 year old man (reported to be drunk by onlookers) tried to avoid an oncoming biker who was riding in the wrong lane, unfortunately rammed into an autorickshaw before it could hit a dead electricity pole and turn turtle. Sadly the autorickshaw driver passed away on the spot.

By the time I reached the accident site, It was a horror scene with the body of the auto rickshaw driver covered with cloth and his family members screaming in agony. Wonder what happened to the Seltos driver and the bike rider, but the entire section was cordoned off by police and they weren't let anyone click picture of the Seltos.

Managed to get some pictures in the morning.

This looks like a picture from accident in 2020 where a truck collided with multiple vehicles in Thoppur.

I always suspected it was the case of a manual driver using an automatic for the first time and not knowing how to handle it ...

Horrific! The 2-wheeler was brushed recklessly by the car overtaking from the left without giving sufficient room - looks like the driver wanted to give the 2-wheeler a fright for driving slowly in his path and it went horribly wrong.

It is the car driver that needs to be arrested not the truck driver.

I feel the 2-wheeler rider should have avoided vrooming in between the car and the truck, the car driver may not have aniticpated this.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Is this proper structure of the road? I see just a thin layer of bitumen, nothing more. Have seen some highway constructions in the past and they had like multiple layers of structural fillings which is not visible here.

Anyways my last diesel refill was at 97 ₹/L where I paid taxes of around 50₹/L for fuel of my car which was bought after paying 'road tax' for driving on the roads where I have to pay 'toll tax'. Not which one out of all these taxes are used to construct such quality roads!

Much more than that.

What a messed up layout in that frame. It is set up for an accident. The guy jaywalking while on phone, several autos parked almost till middle of the road, no traffic lights..

Not sure if it is a co-incidence, he is thrown right on to the zebra crossing which is where he was supposed to be in first place.

Simple, because he was on phone and dis-oriented and did not realize his position. If he simply was not on phone, he would have escaped.
