@SS sir, any details on this accident? UP registered car, where did this incident happen? I'm sure this is going to dent the owner's wallet a lot, unless the insurance company rescues.

So would the airbags have deployed if it was hit somewhere near the driver side tyres?

Happy to know that the passengers were only hurt minorly. The information about the airbags should be of concern surely for many. This shows that the safety implementations are still naive and has a long way to go.

Passenger side airbag can be switched off in i20.

Both front seat belts in i20 Asta equipped with Pre-tensioner which also related to Airbag system operation as well.

The i20 user manual can be download from here
i20 Owner's Manual.pdf - 4shared.com - document sharing - download

What is the point of having 6 airbags when not one has deployed. There are infinite ways in which a car can have a frontal impact. If the airbags deploy only in case of a few select types of impact then passengers are not at all protected in case of " infinite minus select type of impacts". Mr. Wildon please tell me you are serious and not joking. I mean I find it hard to believe. Is it true of other cars too?

Looking at the impact on the boot of ANHC, I am amazed how the right size tail light is not broken. Honda glass parts are stronger than their metal parts??

^^ Its very much true with others depending up on their safety setups. If your car equipped with Airbag system please have a look at the owners manual for further details.

That's a Meerut-reg. car, found travelling in Ghaziabad; stopped at a junction, and it was in front of me. No idea what hit it - probably a truck or bus.

LOL. The impact didn't happen on the light - the metal crumpled elsewhere, and the light just came out of its mount. My guess is the clips to retain the light would be broken.

That's a right side crash plus rollover to the left side! Looks like one very speedily driven Amby!

Does that mean there are no accelerometer type sensors in i20? You have to pray to God that when you hit some thing it should be where your impact sensors are loacted in the car. What is the use of 6 airbags if your sensory system is not up to the mark?

Repairs? doesn't even look good for parts salvage. But heck such vehicles are repaired and then sold to unsuspecting buyers.

Also, if I remember correctly the airbags will only work if the speed is above 40kmph. Below that the airbags do not work.

I don't see any issue here if the airbags did not work. Both passenger and co-passenger walked out with no injuries. Which showed the car did it's job of absorbing the impact. For such accidents if the airbag did work both occupants may have had small injuries due to the airbag.
