Man thats a honda city right!?
Correct me if I am wrong but the impact has totally pushed in/crushed the boot effectively making it a city hatchback

The TN bus accident is another example where the driver escapes while most of the passengers don't. I wonder how only drivers manage to escape!!!

@madtiger Isn't that the old Honda city in the picture? If so that that must have been a bad hit turned the car from a sedan to a hatchback.

I think others died because the driver escaped. If the driver was courageous enough he could have possibly reduced the speed further before the bus fell down. I am not saying the accident could have been avoided, but certainly the impact would have been far lesser than what happened.

Doing 40kmph where everyone is at 100kmph is dangerous anywhere in the world. I am sure you are aware that in most western countries you also have a min speed limit in highways/freeways/motorways.
Certainly there is no minimum speed limit on British motorways.

One should drive according to the conditions, not according to everybody else.

To my believe it could be either one of those Tata 408 or 709 that could be speeding on the almost empty ring road, could not handle the corner and rammed the car.

This is not a Volvo for sure .

Might be a case of diesel tank rupturing and spilling on hot exhaust parts or the separate AC motor that these ALL and TATA buses have .

Morever ,the sleeper buses are always a receipe for danger due to the curtains and bedsheets inside. Also these buses have a narrow passage with the exit only besides the driver cabin .So if at all one survives the roll over ,a fire would give one no chance at all .Also these buses dont have any safety exits .

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

My brother had just returned on Sunday morning from Bangalore to Chennai via one of the KPN travels' A/C sleeper buses. It had started on Saturday night 11:00 PM and had reached Poonamallee bypass around 4-4:30 AM itself. Just shows how fast these buses travel at nights! You just have to pray that nothing goes wrong!

Feel sorry for all those lives that have been lost in this tragedy. May their souls rest in peace!

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

KPN AC Sleepers are all AL buses, no Volvos or TATA rear engined ones.

@Superslick: Get this, Luxury (Blue Hills Group) Volvos do the same in 4 hours.

Saw this on Ridge Road ( Delhi ) Few days back. The road curves left at this junction and looks like this trucker slept on the wheel and woke up after the truck halted

At a first glance it looked like a Fiat palio to me, then when I saw the headlights + rims, then I realised it as a OHC Vtec,
Frankly speaking , the OHC boot/rear end is so delecate even a slight crash at the rear would bend the metal sheet it to look like a crushed paper.
Rear crumple zone is very bad in OHC.
Very recently My friend's OHC got banged at the rear, it was not a very hard hit from Aveo, but a mis calculation in braking from the AVEO, crash bang.
OHC rear was smashed down very badly, including the dicky. Dicky could not be repaired as it was beyond repair, sourcing the OHC dicky was pain.
Was in Workshop for a month, later we got the dicky couriered from Bombay.
Totaly cost for repair.. a cool 30K Rs, my friend just had a 3rd party insurance.

According to local news papers there was a 2 wheeler involved in the accident as well. It was ahead of the Merc. So in all probability Merc was not speeding.

Todays update is all of the victims (2 wheeler + Merc occupants) have died. The driver of the truck was already booked twice before this accident for rash driving and the police have now woken up to cancel his license.
