re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

There was an accident on Bannerghatta Road (in front of Ranka Colony) last Sunday night(12th June). I was on my way back to home when I heard the siren of an Ambulance. Went to the left side to give him way and then saw that lots of people were gathered on the other side of the road and were directing the Ambulance towards the spot. I couldn't see what has happened. Anyone have any idea what might've happened?

The point that I want to table here is that if we held back just for the fear of being tortured later or blackmailed by the police or anyone else, that would be gross injustice to the accident victim.
I too strongly differ with Mayank and strongly support the veiw of Auto Indian.

There is nothing to fear these days. I have done it atleast four times and have not had any issues. In all cases, the family and police were thankful for the help given. It is imperative we need to do that as most of the time, people surrounding accident victim will be busy seeing "Tamasha" and giving unnecessary advice with no one coming forward to help.

Today, there is a Supreme court ruling which clearly stipulate that hospitals can not turn away accident victims.

Fifteen days ago, we saw a terrible accident on Bangalore - Hassan road before Bellur cross.

It was a red coloured Swift going from Bangalore to Hassan. The car had jumped over the median and had landed on the otherside of the road in a ditch

These guys must be driving at terrible speed - it is a newly laid four lane road - and lost control for this to happen. The car was smashed, and the passengers were badly injured and had been shifted to hospital.

hey hey hey!
@fauji and auto indian
what are you strongly disagreeing against?
I had to re-read my post 2-3 times to see where i said you should watch the tamasha, give unnecessary advice, and not come forward to help?.
could you please point it out?

what i did profess to avoid was the post accident visits.
This visit, what is the point here exactly?
there is nothing you can do post the help already provided, and i am okay with not getting either the gratefulness or - god forbid - brickbats, which may come from the relatives.
not gonna play that lottery, but this is all on personal experience.
you've had better experience, you'll of course do accordingly.
cheerios!

Sorry Buddy.

The comment on Tamasha was not at you but wanted to highlight the tendency i have noticed most of the time when no one take charge of situation. I do agree to your point that our role ends when we meet the relatives and handover the patient to them in Hospital. If one has time for more visits thats is really nice of them.

I know of a case where someone tried to help an accident victim who later put the blame on the person who helped him. Looks like the victim was unconscious after the incident and didn't spare the guys who helped him later. Don't remember the specifics of this now.

And again its nice to deal with good cops, but you never know what's in store for you.

Look like it got the full brunt of a landslide!

Doesn't look like it rolled down a slope as the sides have no major damage.

EDIT: BTW, where was this pic clicked. Nice surroundings!

Just saw this Omni burning near Madhya Kailash near the OMR. It was up in flames. No other car around. Difficult to make out what was the cause!

Phew!

It looks like you are stuck in traffic. I'd be scared to be where were, wondering if a gas bottle was about to blow although, by the look of the intensity, I guess the fuel is already on fire.

Very likely. The road to Chitkul has steep mountains on one side that rise right above you, on the left. On the right is a grassy green meadow like valley that looks extremely tempting.

I was considering pitching my tent there years back, as I walked from Mastrang to Chitkul, but decided against it, with the stark fear of a rock or boulder pitching into my tent like a missile as I slept at night.
