This is the same merc that was in news a week back. The driver of this merc ran over a pedestrian instantly killing him. This is no longer parked at the jubilee hills Police station..

Must have had some influence to get the vehicle released that early !

Your friend could be right about it. The red wheel caps? might as well ask your friend! And I really don't think it has anything to do with this crash. You are not hinting at blood are you?

See the red packet lying nearby. Ensure that it is not a ketchup pouch.

Jokes apart, the friend is the right guy to say about it, or else it will remain a mystery of sorts.
It is red coloured wheel cap.

aerohit, you really have a good memory man!! The interesting part is, this road is a 4 lane road and within city limits but the front part of both the cars are damaged heavily. So, might be a hit from a vehicle tavelling in wrong direction but again no clue about the second vehicle invloved in this accident. Strange!

I'm pretty sure both the accidents have nothing in common. They were lying outside the same PS 'coz they happened in that particular PSs limits.

I may be wrong, but that is because there is a police station there. No, I don't mean to say accidents happen bang opposite police stations, but the vehicles involved in accident are towed there.

But yes aerohit, you seem to be having an amazing memory!!

The govt can step in here ,and definitely make seat belts compulsory in all buses.

About passengers not wearing seat belts ,its your own life .I have seen fellow passengers either stare at me ,but at the same time I have seen passengers wear their seat belts the moment they see others wear it .
First Point
Agree - Given an option The bus operator would spend on sticker work / maybe some speakers / screens instead of seat belts. Even if he had seat belts on all seats, what would be the percentage of people using them. If 1 person would use it out of the 36 / 45 seats that itself would be a good ratio. I seriously doubt if the average joe would wear belts.

Even if i were a bus operator, i would invest on something flashy like stickers / speakers / screens or at the very least keep the money to buy some cheapo DVDs / VCDs for entertainment. I am sitting to make money. Given the below two scenarios for advertisements, Guess which one will draw the average customer.

a) Our buses are equipped with Seat Belts.
b) Our buses have a sophisticated sound system / More DVD Screen / Better Carpet / Movies etc.

Second Point:
Govt can make it mandatory but cannot enforce anything. Seat-belts would be present on all seats at the time of RTO Inspection and POOF they will vanish once it comes into service. Many small time shops who specialise in seat belt removal / duplicate seatbelts will spring up. There will be some Low Quality seat belts which will not solve the purpose, but will exists just for fooling the police / checks. It is also impractical to check each and every seat out of 45 seats in a bus by the RTO.

Third Point:
Yes - i agree to the third point also. People would stare like you as if you are a moron. Even if you wear one silently, people will think you are a moron. Take Chennai ast an example. I stop at a red light irrespective of what i drive and what time of the day / night it is. Most people stare at me and a good percentage of them even shout at me and abuse me while i stop at a red light. Stopping at red is a traffic rule and i better foollow it.

At cognizant it is Mandatory to wear seat belts by the Drivers and the person seated next to the driver. It is enforced IN Cognizant. Once the car leaves the company, both open the seat belts and continue. It is people's attitude that need to change.

On Similar Lines: - I go to book tickets at a bus counter

Me: Does the bus have DVD Facility?
Agent: Yes sir: very good movies we the show to you

Me: Does this bus have seat belts for passengers
Agent: !@#$%^&* . Sir What !!! why the seat belt you need sir. driver the very safe and soooper experienced sir. on time take sir no late saar.

Even if we demand one, this is the response one has to take. The Agent wont even bother talking to us beyond this because there will be someone waiting with money in the hand to book even if the bus does not have seats, forget seat belts.

P.S: Grammar mistakes in the conversation are intentional.

Safety is of prime importance, but that doesn't mean having under-powered buses.

Someone said seat belts should be used, and not found in local-bodied buses. This is not true. Many buses from SM Kannapa (Prakash Coach), Veera have seat belts for *all* seats. How many use them, is a different matter. ABTX Travels, ARC Tours have such buses, but hardly anyone uses the seat belts.
Instead of having low power buses, The top speed must be limited to 90 max and have some safety measures like how volvo cars have impact sensing brake kick-off etc.
