Note from TBHP Support : Link below contains disturbing images.

Fr. Sequeira (32) and a lady occupant passed away when the car they were in, collided head-on with a bus at Kalladka a few days ago. It looks like they weren't wearing seatbelts.

Gruesome images. Any idea how it occurred ? from the pics it looks like car is on opposite side of the road and bus is off the road partially.

The bus driver probably tried to get out of the way of the oncoming Santro, which might have taken him off the road.

Looks like the Santro driver's overtaking move went wrong. May the deceased R.I.P.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Private bus drivers in Kerala simply refuse to learn in spite of all the accidents that have occurred at their hands and all the deaths they have caused. Yesterday evening at Thodupuzha, a private bus attempted to overtake a lorry through the wrong side of a divided road and ended up ramming a bike coming in the opposite direction. The pillion rider was killed and his friend who was riding the bike was seriously injured- both college students. An innocent young life lost due to no fault of his - due to a moron's absolute disregard for safety and rules. After the accident, angry locals set the bus on fire.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

If you know what exactly happened, please do elaborate. I just quoted what the media said (mathrubhumi and manorama) and do not have any personal first hand information on this particular incident.

If you are keen on knowing what was the source of my information, here is the attached snap of the news on the front page of idukki edition malayala manorama the following day (assuming you can read malayalam)

That's very sad indeed. Feel very sorry for the 2 boys and their families. That bus is clearly on the wrong side of the road.

read todays news, the bus wasn't overspeeding. The traffic was routed on the other side of the divider by a police constable as there was a minor accident on the left side. It was the bike that was over speeding and banged into the bus.
Cant quote online news paper.

Sorry, but in spite of searching idukki editions of both Manorama and Mathrubhumi, I could not find this information. All I could see is a sentence that quotes RTO officials stating that bus was not overspeeding and thats all. Also there were a couple of reports condemning the dangerous and rash driving by buses in the district. Attached below, taken from today's manorama paper.
perhaps, you have seen something which I missed and both these popular newspapers have not reported/do not know, and it would be nice if you could at least try to post a screenshot of the same. People would love to know the truth I am sure, but with proper citations/links to support the same.

A young sports person lost his life while his friend is in hospital. Reports say that he and his friend were drunk, while the driver was not wearing helmet. The driver lost control of the bike and rammed into a tree.

Very unfortunate. Setting the bus on fire is only helping the owner. He would claim insurance compensation and buy another bus.

A little bit OT, we had this menace of lorries that carry hay. They stuff the hay so much on top that it touches some of the electricity lines hanging between poles on either side of the road. Some of them are driven so rash that once the entire area lost power because one such truck broke the lines and fell two electricity posts. Some angry youth set the truck ablaze. Result? The same owner sent a brand new truck a few weeks after. On asking the crew, they said the insurance paid for the damages and he didn't incur any losses. Then, we decided that we'll not set fire or damage the vehicle, but will certainly damage the people responsible - with their time and money.
