Don't remember seeing or reading about this in any of the newspapers! or was it today?
The car (maybe a wagon R) in front of the truck is badly smashed! I hope no causalities here!

I'm surprised that this was not mentioned in the news or media even after 2 lives were lost.

I'm told that the truck was overspeeding and hit 2 Wipro BPO vehicles who were apparently taking a wrong turn.

The impact at high speed ricocheted the 3 vehicles and the truck and one of the BPO vehicles landed on Wipro parking lot nearby causing further carnage.

1 Wipro Employee and the BPO Cab driver perished in this accident and 6 are injured.. One of the injured is in serious condition.

I've filtered all the graphic pictures of the accident. Based on the attached picture, I have a few questions.

How safe are the extreme rear seats of an MUV in case of direct rear ending?

Does a passenger on those seats even stand a chance of survival if rear-ended at high speeds?

What kind of impact protection is provided for those seats?

Is it even recommended to use those seats for personnel transport?

Note: The snap below is from the Gachibowli pile-up but not a direct rear-ending case.

I was witness to a horrific accident recently.

An IT employee (identified by black coloured employee tag; not sure which company) on an HH splendour (or alike) went underneath a truck right in front of me on 20th March near Mehdipatnam junction. A case of on-the-spot death since the truck wheels went over the neck/chest area of the victim.

The victim was zig-zag'ing like a maniac for quite some distance and was overtaking the truck on the wrong side. His vehicle was hit by another two wheeler (full family on it) coming in the wrong direction(a common scene in Hyderabad) and went directly under the truck. The family escaped with very minor scratches and fled the scene immediately though they were partly responsible for the mishap.

I was expecting to read more details on the next days newspaper, but I was surprised that there was no mention of anything?

Are these daily occurrences in HYD or are lives lost so worthless to be take up even a small column in the newspapers?

Inspite of very good road infrastructure, 95% of the people here drive as if they are possessed by some evil spirit. Dont even get me started on HYD traffic...

No, there is no impact protection as rear-ending of a vehicle is not a common phenomenon and often neglected!

It's not that the safety of the passengers at the last row is compramised due to the vehicle. The responsibility rests on the driver who took the wrong turn, even though the truck was speeding!
How can someone judge/expect a moron (pardon my language here, but that's what I have for the cab drivers.) who will take a illegal U-turn on a divider just because his vehicle can make it?

Same happened with one of my friend, who was doing decent speeds on the same road and a moron on a M800 takes a U-turn over the divider which is barely 1 inch high! Luckily, no one was injured but the damage was around 50k+

The maniacs who do the zig-zaging on the roads are bound to be victims! That's what they chose! (I guess, they think, that by zig-zagging, they can go faster... but just that they don't realize that it's a express ticket to hell!)

Sorry to say this, but I cannot/will not sympathize for this biker who had to face his demise due to his fault! I have also had some near-misses from these kind of maniacs.

May they RIP! (including the ones currently on the roads of Hyderabad)

BTW, the media is more focused on the politicians and the election scene these days. You can hardly read/hear about anything else!

I saw a terrible accident yesterday on the Bangalore - Mysore Highway. On my way back from Mysore i saw a Piaggio Ape loaded with mangoes verticle as if it was a aiming for the stars. The front end of the ape was completely bashed in with no windshield. Right next to it was an Alto on one side totally wrecked. The cops had just arrived and people were trying to get the car back onto all fours. The car was a total wreck and was facing the wrong direction. It seemed like the alto would have suddenly slowed down to take a u turn or some other reason which caused the ape to ram into it at a very high speed. This would have caused the alto to topple over on one side. The autodriver was sitting on the pavement with bruises and cuts, blood smeared all over his face. He didnt seem to have any serious injuries. I do not know what happened to the occupants of the car. I guess they were taken to the hospital. The sight was terrifying. The thought of it made me reduce my driving speed from 110 to 80 kmph.

This happened 5-6 kms from the place I stay and had passed through this point just 2 days ago,and the curve where this crash took place is very dangerous and quite prone to crashes

The accident happened outside the Wipro SEZ Manikonda location on last Tuesday evening.
