The Marina hit a parked Container truck.

Cound not get more pictures as that police jeep came.

As seen in my Marina driver mirror, that stretch of the road is arrow straight for at least 2 kms.

The car had just started from a place about 5 kms from the accident spot as per newspaper reports.

The driver seat appeared off its rails when I went past the car, could not click a picture though!

The person in the second photo was clicking photos of the accident from many angles.

It seems 2 people died in the crash and another 3 with serious injury
details The Hindu : Kerala / Kottayam News : Two of family die in accident

may their soul RIP

What I have read in the local news paper is the container truck was parked in the middle of road, when they had a flat tyre, and the parking lights/hazard lights were not on.

Here are a couple of crashes from my trip today.

An 18-wheel trailer rig had crashed into the back of another truck on NH58, killing the khalasi.

None of the papers that I read had a photo of the crash, surprisingly! No sign of the container either!

But the debris, especially glass, was on the left edge of the road right in front of the gate of a house. Can be seen in the picture.

The part about no parking / hazard lights may be true, though. The pity is that they started off from a place just 4 / 5 kms away and were about 20 kms away from where they should reach.

Pune: Just saw an accident on the road leading from SPICER College towards Ambedkar Chowk (Bopodi). It was a white Verna that managed to get lodged in a way that made it seem like it was trying to fly out of the fields into the road and did not see the row of trees in between. Yes no matter how weird it seems, that's exactly how it was lodged. At an 80 degree incline, face/ bonnet downwards, pointing towards the road. The road is simple stretch, no residences, no shops, no crossings, fields on the left and botanical garden towards the right.

I feel sure that when the car skidded or hit the first tree, it must be doing around 80-90. Also brakes were not applied at all IMHO. Might be a left front tire burst or driver was drunk/ drowsy.

Last news is that the driver escaped with 4 stitches to the head.

Its really nice to hear that the driver escaped with few stitches. I wish he learns a lesson for his life.
This stretch becomes more dangerous in night as the the roads are empty and all vehicles try to speed and overtake each other. The autos drive in the mid of the road, bikers overtaking in zig-zag manner and big cars over speeding.

My Indica accident

The sad looking car in the pics is my own Indica.

2 days back, my wife was driving in Beckbagan area when an Innova in front pulled over to the left and came to a screeching halt. My wife tried her best to avoid the car, and in the process, hit the rear bumper of the Innova first and then a tree. Thankfully, she escaped unhurt.

In Kolkata generally, such accidents are followed by unruly crowd behaviour. She was quick to call me and her father (who lives close by). We reached the scene, shooed off the local "dadas" (who were claiming money for moving the car to the sidewalk!!) and called a wrecker.

The car is with the workshop now. Estimate for repairs is 60K.

Man, sorry to see this, that's a nasty one! Lucky you reached the spot quickly - not the kind of situation where a lady should be by herself.
