Looks like the vehicle has taken the impact pretty well.
On the contrary...I see not much 'crumpling' which means the impact would have given a massive shock loading to the occupants.

Exactly!

The whole block seems not to have moved back by more 5-6". Which means that the impact felt inside would be quite painful.

Most of the sheets have been ripped and bent out of shape, but I am unable to find signs of any crumpling.

from the pic and the info it seems the truck's bumper was so high which is almost to the bonnet hight of the scorpio.Oh man if it had been an hatch the A pillar could have gone and the passengers might be have serious injury or may be fatal.we should do this for the truck driver

LPG Tanker exploded after accident - Karunagappally, Kerala

Today morning in NH47, a big LPG Tanker exploded into huge flames after colliding with a WagonR, and toppling.

The fire started only half an hour after the accident, it is believed that some light in the police car which came for rescue ignited the fire. After the fire started, the explosion followed. The fire was so immense that

10 Bikes
1 Police car
10 Shops nearby

all went into flames. The WagonR was a complete mess.

The fire was seen high above the sky through one of the holes or opening in the LPG bullet afterwards.

Death toll: None (so far, though some of the 21 injured people are in serious condition)

Some local people suffered serious burn injuries. Police and fire guys as well.

Hey, thats surprising news which questions the dealer, the RTO and the awareness of the owner.

Well, the impact from what I know wasnt much as it wasnt a very high speed accident. Also, the fender, the bumper and the bonnet have deformed, to what extent is questionable though, and would have taken the shock to a certain extent. And the fact that none of the occupants were injured other than the driver too says something right.

I saw Asianet Malayalam channel - reporting live, noticed.

1) There are 100's of guys standing less than 50mts from the burning truck, helping firemen by hosing the tank down, but risking their lives.

2) They also showed 8-10 fire engines all lined up - but 1 fundamental flaw in the Indian fire fighting dept - they are all water based engines, wont work against LPG.

3) They showed 1 horribly burnt man being stretched into local hospital. I am sure in the coming days few casualities will be reported. Fire was too intense!!

NIBM-Undri Road - Pune

This is not uncommon on this road. People drive in such a way that one might feel that they are all unsuccessful suicide attempts.

31st Morning .. not a great way to start the day, but.....

Report: The Alto (far back), had minimal damage on it's left front. Looks like it was responsible for deflection of the sedan and then the sedan hit some other objects to reach the state it was in.

Apologies for the pic quality, only cell phone was at hand.

Spotted a Honda Accord (latest gen) in a really bad condition at Juhu police station yesterday. I read in today's paper that the car belonged to Dimple Kapadia's brother.

From what I could see of the car, the whole drivers side caved in completely, the front was unrecognisable. The car apparently hit a tree at high speeds.

Couldn't take any pics.

The current toll is 2.

Fire apparently started when the police jeep was cranked.

Does the police doesn't have any commen sense, there was one incident in Tamil nadu were more than 20 people died due an accident with a tanker.
When will these people learn from past experience?

Hey, in that Malayalam Site, the red Wagon-R looks relatively safe (other than the crumple damage). Its not burnt at all.

How can cranking a engine cause a flame? Cant believe that, must be someone's ciggy/matchstick!!
