Good photographs. Another example of the sturdiness of Matiz. Interesting to note that probably the car could be restarted after being flipped back into position !!
A Hyundai Matiz huh? What next?

Fantastic. I will give full marks to the safety and I can vouch for the same. Matiz was amazing in safety and had 5 star rating when it was launched in 99/2000. First to have 5 start rating in small cars IMO at that time.

Read the news in today's paper. It seems the family was traveling to Guruvayoor to celebrate some function for the baby. Why would one take a night journey on a Maruti Omni Van.

Saw the news item on Malayalam Channels. It is a TN registered Omni and the driver is suspected to have dozed off leading to head on collision.

From the visuals shown on TV (Asianet News), it seems the driver dozed off. The car has hit the left side of the truck, which - according to the visuals - was perfectly on its lane. Today's The Hindu carries an article which mentions a quote from the driver of the truck - the driver says that the car came at a very high speed on the wrong lane. The trucker stopped his vehicle, tried warning the car - but it came on and banged on to the truck. His statement reports that there were no attempts to brake, and there were no vehicles anywhere else on the road. (Perhaps, he means to say that the car wasn't trying to overtake any other vehicle).

That Omni crash is horrible. Drivers fault i guess. I mean, how can one doze off while driving with family that too.
Query: I received an email from a friend about an accident in some latin american country. Its prettty graphic material. There are just 2 pics, can such pics be posted here? Thought i should ask before receiving an infraction!

It will definitively be off topic. Use your discretion.

Alternatively, you could describe the nature of accident, vehicles involved, speed, casualties, extent of vehicle damage, what could have avoided it etc.

I am not sure about that. You can talk about what happened but overly graphic pictures, I don't think so. I too have of one accident in Malaysia, some highway. The guy's brains spilled out. Nope, can't post em here though.

Let's stick to the thread topic: Accidents in India. And let's not get too graphic. There should be quite enough in this thread to make us all more careful as it is.
