Please read the article again, it clearly mentions that the Merc was doing about 150 kmph, even if the cab was stationary, it had dismal chance of neing safe at this high speed,

Being Rich and powerful does not gives you the right and authority to drive at that insane speed, the max speed in Delhi is on the GGN expressway and that too just 90kmph,

The place where the accident occured, the max allowed speed is about 55-60 kmph, if the Merc was being driven at this speed, I think atleast the lady should'nt have died.

how can you prove the car was doing 150 km/hr

a sane person no matter which car will not drive at 150 he will be thinking about his own safety also

According to what I read in the paper, the Merc T-boned the cab at an intersection. So it is a likely possibility that cab entered the intersection first so had right of way. Since the cab rolled over a couple of times after being hit (again according to the paper), it's very likely the Merc was at high speed. Whether it was at 150-160kmph is quite doubtful.

It is almost impossible to prove that the car was doing what speed, but looking at the time of the accident (3:30 AM), Road on which he was driving (Outer Ring Road), wreckage of both the cars and as mentioned in the HT, the Amby rolled twice after being hit, the Merc was surely doing insane speeds, else how can you expect an Amby to be in such a mess,

We all have no other means but to believe newspaper reports unless someone who knew the facts tells us. In this case, the accused himself or his partner, which I believe might never happen,

Also, as per the TOI reports, the accused already got Bail Thursday night.

I don't think it was a 150 Kmph crash. He might have slowed down well before the impact. The merc wouldn't look like that if it was hit straight at 150 Kmph, plus the Amby driver is alive!

@manikjeet - yeah. Let us not behave like sensationalist media.

Till anyone knows the impact speeds/cause of accident how can they say 150 kph? Without hard data, let us not be armchair judges.

and the amby rolling over twice does not translate to impact speeds! You can't say - two rolls = 150 kph.

Let's be scientific for chrissakes!

1) How come a minister has so much money ? Its generally tax payer's money. Most of the times its direct or indirect tax payer's money being spent just like this.

2) The damage on Amby is too much.

Right, the son will get away and may be will get a new Lambo or something. Role of Media ? Either they are called exaggerators or irresponsible. And then it will take a lot of time before justice is delivered. Till then, again the tax money will be wasted.

Amby is a body on chassis construction IIRC ( it was 800 that brought the monocoque construction to India, internationally monocoque construction was pioneered by Citroen ).
Amby chassis is quite strong and rigid, capable of taking overloading. To bend such a body means a lot of energy is required. The damage on both the cars indicate that it was indeed a high speed crash. May be 100 if not 150.
Before the rolls start, first the body is crumpled. Only in case of a very, very rigid body the rolls will start first.

There is no denying the fact that this crash is a high speed one. And the benefit of doubt goes to cab driver.
But, as we know its India, the politician's son will get away with impunity.

Just imagine what would have happened if a middle class man driving his Indica/Wagon R/Swift/i10 T-boned an Amby and killed the passenger.

This person was not a politician, but came into politics for reasons best known to him (may be power), I guess he had declared assets worth 500 crores plus in the last assembly elections. He has lots & lots of land in and around NCR region.

Really sad that the lady fell into the open manhole and died, if that manhole would have been closed, may be she could have survived.

A minister can have as much money as he wants he may me a rich landlord before hand
eg Arminder Singh ex CM punjab also know as maharaja patiala

and we don't know how new amby are made they don't have the same strength as earleir examples and we don't know how it was maintained and if it was involved in another crash before and repaired badly

Not really, right of way is that of vehicle which is on the main road, being driven straight ahead. It is the responsibility of vehicle joining the main road to wait for its turn patiently - a virtue, which unfortunately, not too many exhibit, when behind the steering wheel - irrespective of the vehicle

+1

Alok,

Agree. Gurgaon is full of people who don't know driving etiquette/safety on how to enter the main road!

Not really an accident...

But this was hilarious. Smart auto chap decided to brave the water levels on cut through traffic. (It rained a bit in Bangalore last week)

After 2 minutes, he realized his mistake, but it was too late.

Accident at Mekhri circle just after the underpass in front of Air force command.
Huge traffic jam, cops & ambbulance were on the scene when i passed by around 10 dont know what caused it ,if it was a pedestrian or a bike rider but 2 cars were parked at the scene. Lots of blood on the floor. They seriously need to baricade the divider after the underpass in front of the air force command . i have seen people crossing the road dodging motorists traveling at speeds of over 100.
