It was an after-market grille on a Swift. The passengers seemed fine.

Looks like the truck was at the receiving end !! And passenger cabin of the A4 looks intact. Now that looks confidence inspiring.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I met an elderly gentleman yesterday, who told me about a crash he had. He had an old Omni, which had developed a snag in the wheel alignment, and would drift to the right. He ignored that when he had to go to Tirupati. On the way, he had to swerve to the right at around 90 kmph to avoid a pothole or something, and lost control. The car went over the divider and came to rest on its roof, on the other side of the road. His wife got no injuries, and he got severe bruises on his right hand. The car was totalled.

The only thing that saved both of them was seatbelt.

If A4 can do so much damage to a truck, I can't imagine what Q7 can do!

Looks like occupants of front seat were buckled up. No marks of bang on windscreen and white cloth inside the car seems to be a deployed airbag.

It can be easly concluded that the moron driving the TT was tailgating, as they always do, by being bullies on the road. Needless to say, the Indicab has better brakes, and the result can be seen.

P.S. : Since both were commercial vehicles, wonder who beat up whom.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

this morning when i was driving to work, a biker overtook me (on my left). i was approaching the Hiranandani Pizza Hut signal in Powai, so had slowed down to 20 km/h. the bike would've been at 40+.

the moron had a skid and fell almost 3-4 feet in front of me. i'd stopped almost instantly and hence there was no impact with my car. thanks to his helmet, the guy escaped with just a few bruises on the hands. he got up, checked himself & the bike, and drove off at a pretty high acceleration for someone who'd just fallen off his bike.

i wonder when such people would come to realize that they're not invincible and need to drive according to road and traffic conditions??

edit : no pics for obvious reasons

that's the thing! nobody was at the other's throat! when i passed the accident scene, both drivers were chatting with each other, assessing the damage. hey, they just drive the vehicles, they don't own it. so why worry

Ha! Watch the story unfold differently if one of the drivers involved were an MNC professional!! Then you will only see savage behavior.

More than that, 2-wheeler riders need to realize that their mistakes can cost other 4 wheeler drivers a stint in jail and great misery and inconveniences. I've lost count of the umpteen number of times I've saved 2 wheeler riders from their own mistakes.

Is there more than what meets the eye? The truck can't suffer so much damage with the Audi being in such a decent shape!

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

@ crazybiker,
with your opinion. In my Opinion,
The axle of the truck must have broken nad it must have come in the path of the Car. If we look at the truck only the bumper has bent.

One of my friend had met with an accident 2 years back where the rear axle of a truck broke.
The truck swayed like a pendulum and hit my friend's car.
Unfortunately my friend lost his mother in the accident.

I feel this is similar to that but its must be the front axle in this case.
I have seen many instances where the axle of vehicles have broken suddenly and they fall on their noses.

But if there was nothing like that in this particular accident, they boy! Audi is sure strong.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Hi
Seems like people are always in a eternal hurry in highways too, was going on the ECR stretch and a gang of blokes overtook and boy were they in a hurry and after a mere 30 mins, could see the same car lying toppled with the bonnet gone ahead by 100 metres and was really sad to see a one of them with life weaning out. did all the best i could and even the ambulance reached in super time but could save only 4 out of the 5 people. Hope that people slow down and take it easy on the highway

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I am trying to figure out how the A4 and the van accident took place. But the whole axle of the truck has been bombed. It actually looks like it could have been a head on, and the truck would have gone over the bonnet of the A4, hence the broken axle. The boot not going in also indicates this.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

On sam_sant2005's post I remembred a thing I have always imagined about. Ever since I have seen the Ritz, I have always wanted to give an additional point to any MS marketing executive.

Now imagine a discussion between an executive and a potential ritz customer.
Executive: "Sir, the rear 'Boomerang' shape is designed for safety".
The customer asks "How??"
Marketing executive: "The shape provides extra space to a vehicle if it is about to hit...It can hit that split second later or even avoid hitting (because the shape is already like a vehicle hit from behind)"

anyways, I hope the rear passengers if any in the indica are okay.

PS: Nothing offensive intended against any ritz owner or MS but I simply don't like the shape of that car
