The friend is in Jupiter in a very serious state due to severe lower spinal cord crushing damage. Docs have said that the best possible case would be that he will be able to turn himself hip above but below the hip, no control or sensitivity. Will lead a paraplegic life. To add to the misery of the family, his wife of 3 years is expecting his first child in 1 month!

Guys, please drive safe. Even with seatbelts, safety is important.
So help me understand, did he or his father wear a seat belt or not? Prima facie it would seem so but i'd rather not conjecture.

Because I honestly think most hatches will not take the kind of accident well in any case. and in a 15 feet fall, other objects may further intrude into the cabin, worsening things.

OT: I don't know if the following experince has occurred to you too. This is my first car, I do not have any previous experince in car ownership or driving. Salesman from Pratham motors, ORR, Blr was very well behaved during the test drive, negotiation and waiting period of 3 months. On the day of car delivery, I was told from the dealer that my designated sale-sperson and most of his coleagues are on a promotional drive in another part of the city. So there was no body in the showroom to show me eatures of the car. Paperwork was done in 20 minutes in the finance dept. and I was handed over the car to drive home. All in all, process completed in 30 minutes. Is this how the system works? Should I have waited for another day when sales person was available and receive instructions about the car?
As long as the process was smooth its ok. If you have checked the car nicely before delivery no problem, Normally Maruti dealers or service personals get back to us and ask about the car how its behaving. You can always call back and get any useful information from them. Remember not to rev too fast in the run in period, other than that i dont know what instructions one can give.

It is a Skoda Octavia Rider model. Ironically there is a Skoda Rapid ad in the page below.

A friend saw this accident at Mekhri circle in Bangalore. Apparently, the driver was drunk and overspeeding and the car was new and was running without a number plate. The Cruze hit a divider, a pole and finally crashed into an Indica. The driver of the Indica was injured. The car is in such a pitiable condition!

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Friends on Sunday one lady driving KA 05 MF 5293 or 5297 (not clearly remember), t-boned (though not rammed) in completely residential area in BSK 2nd stage. As I was about to park and get out, she ran. I couldn't get picture, I only took down number which also not clear. I want to register a complain on hit and run. But I could not as I don't have full details of car (like which make). I searched Vahan, BTP (BITS SMS didn't reply also), just to get which make the car was. Can friends/BHP let me know get the details. This is silver color Accent or Esteem... She left gash marks on my right back door and wheel arch.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

The Cruze has really withstood all that punishment very well. Had the pole hit the cabin instead of the front wheel, the story could be quite different. At least the driver will be alive and accountable for the incident. Hope the cab driver has a quick recovery.
The case of this indicab is a good lesson towards always buckling up on the road.

Although i am not defending this driver, the divider at mekhri circle (looks like he hit the divider between the going below the bridge and going above) is unmarked without any reflectors and i have seen several accidents at this spot (both drunk and sober), though only few this severe.

btis.in/rto works. 5297 is a Swift LXI and 5293 is an Alto. You may have to check what you want to do - 'coz both are not accent/esteem.

Drunk drivers should have no pardon ! If carrying an unlicensed gun is an offence ,drunk drivers should also get same punishment ,if not more instead of the 2K INR fine that is in place .

dude, there is that RTO sms service where you send in the vehicle number and it sends you back the ownership and basic details, you might find a clue there.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Girl doesn't wear helmet, jumps signal in busy hour, get mow down. Police put video on facebook, and all that TOI want to do is criticize the cop.

Insensitive cops upload gory accident on Facebook - The Times of India

I am sure cop didn't want to glorify the act, only educating other about their responsibility.
