Looks very much like an XUV5OO don't you think??

EDIT: Just checked again; Rear quarter glass does suggest Montero.

Looks like a Ford Fusion rather than a Figo.
Knowing reporters normally dont go specific on the model as they are not aware of the different models by a manufacturer.

If you see the very first picture, where the tail lamp cluster and the left bumper are visible, its pretty evident that it is a Figo. The Fusions bumper are more angular and narrower unlike the rounded ones see on the Figo.

EDIT: Looking at the condition of the car, it's impossible anyone could have survived this accident, maybe even if the car had ABS, airbags and other safety equipment.

That's a horrible accident. Felt sad after i read the route cause of the accident. I do not think the swift driver could have prevented this if the trailer didnt have any reflective material on all the sides. The trailer must have been trying to join the road at 90 degrees, blocking the entire width of the road. The hatchback passengers are always vulnerable in such cases since they sit at lesser height. I wonder whether they would have survived if this was an SUV like scorpio (where passengers sit at a good height from the ground).

How can you say that? If the car had ABS , maybe the driver could have avoided the collision altogether.

I feel the person would have dozed off at the wheel. 30 meters is sufficient to react and I feel that if seat-belts were worn, It would have saved lives.

Maybe the driver could have steered clear and avoided the tree OR if ABS was there he could have come abck on to the tarmac.

1. The Fortuner is thrown atleast 10-15 feet away from the site of impact.

What do you guys think?
The fortuner wasnt thrown away . One of the pics where the Fortuner has its tail lights on is just after the accident . And it is on the wrong side of the road.
Looking at the condition and the vintage of the truck, there is no way that this machine could do triple digits .

Anybody who has driven on this road , will agree that no car/SUV driver will drive slow on this well maintained stretch of road .

More than anything , I can bet that this is yet another case of driving without seat belts .

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Try telling someone from Mangalore/Udupi districts (especially those who rarely go out of these cities or its surrounding areas) how important it is to wear seatbelts/helmets. Most will laugh at you and ridicule you. I have first hand experience. My one uncle, who keeps driving between Mangalore and Udupi in his Wagon R, did this to me.

And another uncle's brother died due to head injuries when an M800 crashed into his bike at Tiger Circle in Manipal some 5-6 years ago. Still this uncle does not wear helmet. He and his wife blame it on the rash driving by the car driver (who was a medical student then), and poor treatment from Kasturba hospital.

It is so easy to blame others for your loss :-)

That SUV/MUV in the pic does not look like an Innova. Any thoughts which vehicle is that?
Looks more like a Pajero Sport to me. It surely isn't the innova.

Egos and lack of patience does this on an already mutilated Bangalore road.

I was just behind these idiots, who would not let the other one pass and ended up wedged into each other like long lost thick pals. Belated friendship day to them .

Spot was near jakkasandra signal where the iconic BBMP and BDA are digging up the road.
