re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Hi all, While coming back from Bareilly today I saw this major accident of Swift Dzire on the Moradabad By-pass toll booth on NH 24. The cause of accident as told by the people there was sudden braking of a truck to avoid the RTO checking. The passengers of the car were alive while being taken to the hospital but had suffered serious injuries.

Just now saw this accident after crossing Vaniyambadi Toll

The accident was due to hasty crossing of two wheeler... Severe injuries to the rider & pillion rider

From the looks of it, seems like the i10 has taken all the damage. There's not much damage to the bike. Were the rider & pillion thrown over the car's bonnet and windshield?

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Two major accidents in Mangalore; One last night and the other this evening.

1. http://www.daijiworld.com/news/news_...sp?n_id=230661

^^ Looks like a case of reckless and driving under influence. The Civic rammed into a bike at high speed and dragged the bike a few meters. The rider and pillion are in serious condition.

2. http://www.daijiworld.com/news/news_...sp?n_id=230854

^^ Another example of reckless and rash driving. A mini bus carrying a wedding party rammed head on into a college bus @ NH 13. A lady and child are supposed to be seriously injured.

I commute regularly on the above highway and it is single lane one. These mini bus drivers are among the most reckless of the lot. The don't care about traffic rules and just keep honking and tailgating even though there is long line of vehicles in front.

Both the rider and pillion rider has been severely injured. The rider was unable to stand he has severe injuries on his head more over he was bleeding a lot. They were moved in the maruthi van to hospital you can see in the second picture. The motorcycle has taken impact on left side completely

Power should be bestowed only onto those who can control it. The same applies to cars. We should control what we can, instead of giving in into road rage.

Saw this Etios close to Metro ford stmarks road. The car looked new and by the looks of it the owner must have rear ended a bigger vehicle.
Car seemed damaged badly, had coolant leaking all over the place.

From this picture, looks like the car has suffered extensive damage than the 2 wheeler.

Saw this truck overturned on the Sion-Panvel highway on the 22nd.

No idea how it happened or when it happened but can reason that the truck was taking a left to join onto the highway and fell into one of the many depressions due to construction on the highway.

Accidents in India | Pics & Videos-img2014042200045.jpg

It had spilled out some kind of heavy oil but all of it was contained within depression.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

The truck driver did not account for the load shifting to the opposite direction of the one in which he was turning or rather he might have accounted for the same but not added on the increased effect due to the cargo being in liquid form (in this case oil) which is more prone to changing direction. This means more mass transferred in the opposite direction than what would have been the case with solid goods = flip. Had he taken the turn at a slower speed, the accident could have been averted.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This accident happened a couple of weeks ago. I presume that he rear ended a truck by the looks of the damage.
The driver must have dozed off as it happened in the wee hours.

The cabin looks intact, but going by the blood spots all over the steering and dash area, I believe neither the driver nor co-passenger were wearing seat-belts.

Also looks like someone stole the stereo HU by removing the fascia.

Fully agree, that's what I thought too. Even in such a crash, the A-pillars were intact. Airbags and seatbelts could have saved lives here!

, Definitely, seat belts and airbags would have minimized the injuries. Such incidents and the lack of safety measures by both the drivers and the manufacturers make for a very sad reading. Hope the occupants are safe.

Even though my current ride does not airbags, thanks to TBHP I buckle up even on short commutes and have made a firm decision that my next car I buy shortly will surely have Airbags and ABS.
