re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

A Tractor (Water tanker) was reversing on the road, driver rammed into my zen parked in front of the house.

I had heard the tractor approaching & by the time I opened the door I saw the zen moving behind by a foot due to the impact.

I had parked absolutely at the edge of the road, and the idiot claimed that he was reversing without looking behind since generally no cars are parked on our road There was enough space left for him to pass.
This is my 2nd incident while parked I guess the bumper absorbed much of the impact.

Omg. Please tell me the people in that Eon survived. The truck owner should be seriously put behind bars.

I definitely don't know about the condition of the Eon's occupants, but definitely, hauling such huge pipes and that too loose, is sheer crime.

This incident happened in 2013 and has already been posted in this thread. Two persons in the car survived the mishap without injuries.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

While going towards Nandi hills from Bangalore at around 2pm, I saw on opposite lane a WagonR hit a truck (assuming truck was parked on left most lane on this 6 lane highway) from behind, I could see the impact all the way till driver seat while the front went right under, may be the truck didn't have the impact bar and was parked on that left most lane which WagonR may have missed while overtaking from left / sudden maneuver. I hope Driver survived, cops should take some action on such trucks parked on left most lane and not using truck lay by if he was indeed parked there (a couple kms ahead of the Nandi hills turn). I don't have any pictures.

XUV crashes into stationary truck in Hyderabad ORR.

Accidents in India | Pics & Videos-30car_0_0.jpg

Report says half of XUV went under the truck. Not sure if it had under-run protection bars.

What sort of a speed can do that to an XUV? Seems like he didn't brake at all. Really sad, even the most modern safety features can't save you if you are ignorant.

Legal speed limit on ORR is 120. So I would assume something in that range at least.

+ 1

Safety features doesn't mean that you become immortal when you are inside a car. The features have their limitations and they provide safety under certain conditions only. IMO all cars are crash tested at legal speed limits only.

In certain TV program a high speed (more than 100 KMPH) crash was tested on a Ford hatchback and the producers didn't even take the chances with expensive crash test dummies. The result was catastrophic with the car becoming 1.8 m long heap of mangled metal. The chance of survival in such crash was next to impossible.

The news article mentions that the driver fell asleep. Also at least from the look of it, I feel the vehicle went below the truck with area around A pillar taking much of the impact.
