Karnataka Health Minister's car meets with accident http://www.daijiworld.com/news/news_disp.asp?n_id=298815. By look of the photos published, front passenger didn't wear the seat belts (I may be wrong inferring shattered glass). No one hurt badly!

Just saw this XUV. 70km before Salem, from Bangalore. As per locals the car was coming from opposite direction, hit the divider, crossed over and turned turtle. They are saying the front alloy wheel broke while running. Don't know how far it's true.

From the alloys, looks like a W6, so no curtain airbags. Hope there were no fatalities. Scary if it really caused because of the front alloy (the one sold by M&M as an accessory)

There were 2 passengers in it -a middle-aged couple. The guy was driving. Both are safe with minor injuries. They were sitting and were being comforted by local people.

Does look like it. In the last pic, the bolted part of the left front rim is still on the hub while the rest seems to have sheared/broken off. Nothing in the accident description suggest that kind of damage, unless they hit something at a really weird angle at high speed to damage an alloy that way.

I don't think an alloy can break this way all of a sudden. Either it was already damaged or it hit something before breaking. Glad that they are safe.

Even personally I feel the same. If at the vehicle crashed into a divider at high speed, the front right wheel should have borne the brunt and the same alloy might have crashed. But here, it looks unusual. Thinking about it, whenever I see a W6 with this add on alloy, I wonder how safe those thin flower petal spokes are in terms of bearing all the forces on the road, plus a real heavy car on top. And this picture just refreshed that thought in me. In comparison, the W8 has thick spokes or whatever it is called.

I thought all factory fitted alloys are costlier because they offer better strength due to "forging" , unlike "casting" used to make most aftermarket alloys. Is it not the case for mahindra ? Are they sacrificing strength and going for the lowest bidder to procure the alloys and selling them as "factory" ones ?

Ohh.. these are the latest variants of Alloys being pushed by Mahindra's. If my recollection is correct these are the NEO made ones, resold by M&M

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Witnessed a small accident a few hours ago:

3 on a bike, riding recklessly, hit another bike and all 4 fell down. I'm sure at least one of the 3 would've got some head injury, going by the way their bike fell down. Since I saw them being attended to, I didn't bother to stop and cause a jam, and got moving. A little ahead, I apprised a traffic cop in front of the Madiwala police station, of the incident and headed home.

Spotted this Force Traveller at BKC, near MCA club.
No idea about how it happened.

Navi Mumbai: Almost a fortnight after an eight-year-old girl became victim of a fatal hit-and-run in Karjat, a 40-year-old man, Kisan Pawar alias Krishna, was killed in another such accident on Monday in Karjat.

Pawar was reportedly crossing the main road near Takve village on Karjat-Murbad road around 8pm, when he was hit by a vehicle and cops said that he was killed on the spot.

A runaway water tanker has mowed down two in front of Esteem mall, Hebbal in Bangalore. Videos are being circulated all around. Pics are very bad as well. Not putting them up here.
