It seems the fresh adrenalin gets the better of the senses the moment they sit behind the wheels of the car. RIP
How the eyewitnesses are able to tell the vehicle speed is a mystery to be cracked.

These were people from hometown. Very very sad news. Markets were closed for a day.
Small town, everyone knows pretty much everyone else.
Very young guys. No signage from construction company. No road sense, understandably, from these guys. Despite several incidents in past, my town doesn't learn it.
Everyone will mourn and will still keep driving recklessly.

I want to do something about this and want to educate people out there. Can anyone please help me with the ideas?

I beg to differ with what you've said. It was the bumper which of course had to be made of flexible material that appeared to be torn off (As a matter of fact, it appears to be detached, not torn) in that pic. Ain't it the cardinal function of any bumper to absorb the impact and deform itself thereby protecting the occupants and rest of the car?
On another note, the nano's crumple zones did a fair job in absorbing the impact, probably owing to the engine-free, cavernous front.

Re: Accidents in India - PICS (deadly intersection)

I can't seem to get over the fact that some of the victims were legitimately waiting at the red signal / moving in green signal. Don't know what more could a 2 wheeler rider do to safeguard himself?
Though, no sympathies for 2 wheeler riders jumping the signal and justifiably paying the price!

M.P. Radhika, daughter of Padmini, hailing from Cheruthazham near Ezhilode, died and six occupants of the car were injured, two of them seriously, as the Nano car plunged into the water as it neared the bridge on the Neeleshwaram-Cheruvathur stretch of National Highway No. 66, the police said. The police suspect that the driver of the car had fallen asleep.

Seven people in a Nano (or for that matter any 4 seater car) is calling for trouble in itself.

^^ My god, this is a scary. The strange part is, I do not see any tyre marks indicating hard braking, which means the driver must have slept and gone straight into the bus at a very high speed. No amount of safety features can save you from such a crash.

Looking at the position of the bus, I think the bus came into the car's lane (probably to take a right turn under the flyover in the picture) and the car's driver wasn't expecting that. However, the car had to be doing some serious speeding to receive so much damage.

If that is the case, may be there would have been side impact. This is a perfect case of tailgating at very high speeds. RIP the departed souls. Truly a gory sight.

Irrespective of whose fault it was, it's insane to be doing higher speeds on such roads. The car driver left himself no space/time to react to an unexpected move, assuming there was one. Suicidal.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I stay near the beach in Alibag, Maharashtra. I have my own pwc and am into rental watersports. the most common sight n the beach is wanna be Dominic Toretto's trying out stunts to impress their girls . People taking a car for a wash in the beach. Trying to drive through water without knowing the depth. These are some of the picture i was able to capture. Seeing them happening is a different scene altogether.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This morning at about 8.30 when I was dropping my kids to school, saw a black Verna being towed. The car had frontal damage as far as I could see. This was on the Chennai-Maduravoyal by-pass near Nolambur. There were two or three police vehicles already and a large crowd on the service road, blocking it in an attempt to get a glimpse of the mishap. I could hear one of the guys on the road state that it was a tyre burst, not sure. Anyone witnessed this ?
