Clicked this picture the next morning when commuting to office. Got further info from other cab drivers that the TT and Sumo (Both cabs belonged to different IT giants) had a head on collision. One person was killed and many injured.
That is a 100% accident spot !
It is just at the end of the lane through Dell and the absolutely blind left curve towards Accenture, makes it super risky ! It gets heavily flooded during rains !
I had a few near misses with huge company buses at that turn.
Sad to hear someone lost his life. Was it one of the drivers or an employee ?
If a driver, absolutely no mercy. They are maniacs and very dangerous at nights !

Saw this Nano in the yard of TASS. According to the SA, it was an accident on NH47 where the Nano crashed onto an Ashok Leyand Truck, got thrown away and fell on it's RHS. They occupants wore seatbelts and hence were completely safe. I think the car has taken the impact perfectly well since it's cabin was totally intact! No intrusions, the A-pillar wasn't damaged but the front was totally gone.

Yes, I too have observed this. During the day time itself cabs zoom past so fast on this stretch and can only imagine how it would be at night.
Yes, it was an employee who lost his life. Unfortunate for him. TOI mentioned that a case of rash driving was booked against the TT driver.

Spotted at the Mysore Skoda dealer. Looked like a TD car.

You going till the edge of the center median is nothing wrong, as you were reacting to the 2 wheeler ahead of you. But next time when you see this same situation, pull to the left to leave a safe path for the overtaking guy. Patient HCV drivers do that always.

Problem with this safe mode of driving is, this encourages morons to be more moronic, taking for granted the slow(relatively) moving vehicle ahead, to yield to their unsafe overtaking practices.

I believe Sankar could have even done that, had the moron coming form behind gave him the overtaking indication (flash headlights). But he seems to be too much in a hurry even to do that.

Sankar, was there any major/minor damage to your car? The dashcam clearly shows that the Innova's overtaking manouvre got wrong. He seems to be one of those casual drivers, who don't have the highway driving mannerisms. Couple of points he could have done that could have help prevent this incident.
  • He should have flashed his headlights (upper/dipper) to warn you that he was overtaking.
  • This could have also warned the oncoming vehicle, which could have probably slowed down.
  • If you indicate the vehicle in front of you that you are going to overtake and even then the vehicle does not budge, don't assume that he is rude or not having the courtesy of giving way. There could be another vehicle in front of him (like the two-wheeler in this case) or an obstacle, which the fellow is trying to avoid. So one should have some patience while overtaking.
Overtaking vehicles on an undivided road is always a risky affair. Its like shooting at two moving targets. It is very important to judge whether the vehicle in front of you is going to give you right of way or not. Assuming for the worst you have to make your move.

That is the biggest challenge with Kerala roads including NH. Since most drivers are so used to undivided 2-lane roads, such careless driving is very common and even the passengers would not see anything alarming. After driving for some time, at least some drivers start getting impatient with the slow vehicles and finally end up doing something dumb or risky. Another contributing factor is the fatigue that is caused by driving on these roads which would also impair the judgement. To put some perspective, it takes more time for me to cover ~260km from Calicut to Kottayam on Kerala's highways than to cover ~550km from Hyderabad to Bangalore.

That's asking too much from these guys, they are always in high beam mode!

Fortunately the Polo took the hit rather well, the damage is minor. You can see in the video that the hit was strong enough to move the vehicle slightly to the left. But thankfully it didn't cause much damage.

The mark on the fender can be taken care of by some mild rubbing. But the paint was cut on the bumper and will need partial repainting of the bumper to fix it. And there's some minor rubbing on the tyres. If the car had the stock tyres the alloys would have got scratched. 195/50/16 sidewalls bulge a bit out compared to the 185/60/15 stock which is around the same level as that of the alloy's outer edge.

Based on the pictures, it looks like your alloys did get scratched on the spokes. Or is it just dirt?

perhaps the sand lorry came in wrong direction to take a turn at the intersection and got rammed by the bus.
Anyone has any news on the same?
It was a pretty bad hit. The lorry just got into the lane without any indication and the bus was doing pretty good speed. the driver and another passenger behind the driver were badly injured. the passenger had a broken leg. the rest of them had some minor injuries. I was in the middle row, so was just thrown about in the impact.

Spotted this on the thirunelveli(South Tamil Nadu) bypass yesterday. This happened in a intersection so probably someone tried to cross the road at the last minute and the car couldn't brake in time.

Sure, it is always better to practice defensive driving.

It should be remembered that the overtaking vehicle does not have the right of way: overtakes should be sure that have a clear road, and that the vehicle they are overtaking is not going to have to move out, eg for a biker. And, of course, they should give space before pulling in in front.

But in this imperfect world, yes: defensive driving.
