BTW, isn't the innova's number plate (CHE 67) invalid
There's a little complicated process of retaining old numbers in Chandigarh / Punjab RTO which till couple of Years was actually far easier but nowadays someone with access to higher-ups can still manage this . I believe vehicle owner name needs to be same on both vehicles and you can either get a new number on old or show that as scrap and get that number transferred to new vehicle

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Just spotted a badly mangled car being towed on VIP road, Surat. Black, looked like an Octavia or a Laura. The left three quarters were completely squished and the rear wheel had locked up. I really hope there was no one in the front passenger seat! What made it intriguing was that there was a heavily modified bright yellow 3-series following it with its hood missing. Not sure what was up with that.

Couldn't get to a camera in time unfortunately. Anyone have any info about it?

Excellent built quality and high strength steel sheets and crumple zones.
The shunting from the rear by the truck has totally decimated the Sunny's boot.
Although the crumple zones have done a pretty good job in keeping the cabin intact, the rear passengers would be at a serious risk of luggage protruding into the rear seats.

Unfortunately most cars sold in India don't come with a solid metal frame behind the rear seat rest. The seat back is all soft and flimsy in most cars and is a serious risk.

The Fiat Palio used to to come with a very solid steel plate reinforcement behind the rear seat rest. This reinforcement (example) is absolutely essential to minimize the risk of luggage from hurting the rear passengers.

Gas tanker fell into a trench 40 ft below road. Happend at 3:30 AM and luckily the tanker was empty. First indications indicate that driver slept and lost control of the vehicle. Driver couldnt be saved.

Now a days gas tanker accidents are becoming a common news from Kerala due to low adherence to rules. for eg, 2 drivers are mandatory for this cochin - Mangalore trip, but there was only one driver in this vehicle.

Just read news of a landslide on the Mumbai Pune expressway near Lonavla.
http://www.ndtv.com/others-news/3-pe...2977?site=full

The video shows a dead body I suppose, so viewer discretion is advised.

There is a white Tata Manza MH 04 registered, very badly amashed up by the falling boulders and rocks.

Crossed the spot this afternoon and took some snaps. The Indigo that was smashed was a terrifying sight. The rocks are really huge- you can see some in these pics

Traffic was diverted via the old highway at the Khopoli/Shedung exit and it was a virtual crawl for quite a while. The whole journey took us nearly 6 hours but we were luckier than Mumbai bound traffic which looks doomed to be stuck for much longer. The northbound section of Adoshi tunnel has been blocked completely and traffic diverted into the oncoming lanes instead.

Some crazy accidents too not far from where the landslide happened. This Mumbai- bound LCV
seems to have broken the crash barrier and landed on the truck headed towards Pune.

Saw a terrible accident today evening at the eastern freeway, Just before you exit the tunnel while coming from CST, A car had crashed on the left side and was literally crushed, I could not even make out which car was it, Looking at the car i highly doubt there were any survivors, There was just one car and nothing else around, So probably the car lost control, I passed from there around 10 minutes after it happened, The car would have been in great speed looking at the condition of the wreck, Could not click any pictures since i was just in a big shock looking at what an automobile can turn into.

Another case of 2 juveniles dead and 2 injured in a high speed accident.

This happened in Ahmedabad near the Naranpura locality early Sunday morning.

Four teenagers all of them students in their third year college were heading home early around 6 AM after attending a birthday party. The driver lost control of the vehicle, jumped a divider and hit a tree at speeds which were in excess of 100+. The driver (a 19 year old) died on the spot, the passenger (his supposed girlfriend) died in the hospital and the other two at the back are seriously injured. One of them has lost an eye and the other one's condition is critical.

A liquor bottle and a sheesha was found in the car (although this is not yet confirmed).

This incident, amongst all such others, is a lesson to learn for all. Please drive safe.

Statistic: In India there are 18 deaths due to road accidents. Every hour.

Since the driver is 19 years old , he can hold a valid DL , but the legal age for drinking alcohol is 21 right ? Does this still make him juvenile ?

All said and done, the bottom line line is the driver may have indulged in drinking overnight and then drove the car back home at high speed resulting in loss of control.
The end result DEATH. There have been numerous campaigns as to not drive if one is drunk and vice versa. When will such people especially the youngsters understand the gravity of the situation.
They died without experiencing pain. It is their unfortunate parents who will have to live with the pain for the rest of their lives.

Oh, I now realize why it's advertised as a valuable safety addition in the Punto Evo. Thanks for that.
