Also add those who simply start changing their punctured tyres in the first lane (even on expressways). I simply can't believe the dumbness involved in doing that.

Bus toppled in China

This is cctv footage of a bus accident in China, shows how important seatbelts can be, even in buses.

Hope our authorities wake up and make seat belts mandatory in passenger buses. Atleast, people who want to live another day, will start using them.

I'd rather have law enforcement chase after the idiots who cut lanes with no warning, or run around with the high beam on all the time, or have no working tail lights. These are the villains who affect other people's lives with such ignorance, and therefore I feel like these are the ones who need to learn how wrong they are first. Then we can go and take care of a dearest citizens by nannying them about and making it compulsory for them to wear seatbelts and helmets.

Its a viscous circle. I blame high beams for this.
Apart from enforcement on the use of helmets and seatbelts, but I agree with you on the rest of what you say.

Indian traffic police will only police when they are stationary and the law breakers come to them. For example: speeding. They stand in one place with the speedguns. Seatbelt, helmet, PUC, documents, etc are checked at stationary checkpoints. They never do policing in motion. There is zero patrolling by traffic police. That's why lane cutters and wrong way riders will never get caught.

This video also shows how a non-belted passenger can hurt a belted passenger.

The car is in such a horribly mangled state, look more like an air-crash wreck than a car wreck.
Possibly could have got sandwiched between two Heavy vehicles or a heavy truck overturned on it perhaps. The way the roof has crumpled suggests the former.

Exactly, they were the pilgrims visiting Tirupathi and were on their way back home. In the news article it was mentioned that all of them were from Tamilnadu.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

In Navi Mumbai, a woman riding a scooter loses her balance and falls in the path of a crane, which runs over her head/upper body.

At a glance, it appears that she lost her balance because of a difference in the level of the road and fell in the path of the crane following immediately behind her. The response of people in the first few minutes is even more scary - no one is willing to even go near her to check if she is alive though many slowed down and a few stopped. The crane driver does not stop to help.

One horrible accident but I squarely blame the Municipality and the the road contractor for this accident. It is clearly evident that she fell because she lost her balance on an un-leveled road. What the hell is the municipality doing? They collect road tax while buying a new vehicle and this is what they give in return.

Also its high time there is a rule for transportation of such heavy equipment. They should be only and only transported on trucks at any point in time and this should include all heavy machines like cranes, earth movers etc. If caught otherwise they should be confiscated and sold as scrap within a month. These machines are not at all something to be driven on normal roads as they are not that agile.

How does that matter? In this case, the woman would have been run over by a lorry that is carrying a crane. Isn't it?

Yes it can happen but IMHO, a truck has better visibility than this crane. Look at where the driver cabin is. he did not even realize that the lady had fallen. Also, do notice, most of these vehicles when being driven through often have more than 1 person (Earth Mover/JCB is an exception as the cabin is in the center) on it and they keep guiding the driver.
