re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

There was a very similar incident of a car falling into a well in TN last month. That video was posted here - one could see that avoiding a truck, steel railing on the side and eventually falling in. This one at Hyd is the second one. I feel for the diver who got stuck. Really sad.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I have a query(don't know if this is the appropriate thread or not; couldn't find one by searching): Is it dangerous and irresponsible to drive a car or bike with vertigo? And is it mandatory to declare it for DL?

Appropriate thread or not, it's absolutely inappropriate and dangerous (for you and others) to drive if your vertigo is not in control. It is as bad as drunk driving - maybe worse actually.

My sister has had a fender bender exactly due to this and she stopped driving for 6 months until medications brought it under control.

For all you know, that owner may be a very poor farmer with 1-2 acres land.
Its for the highway authority that constructed the road next to the well to be cautious and construct retaining wall or barricade by the road side. That well may be there for ages, before the road came.

Shocking turn to the whole incident and resulting accident.

Chase by Audi driver caused accident that led to death of Kerala models: Kochi Police

Source : India Today ; Mathrubhumi

Quote:
city Police commissioner CH Nagaraju said that the Audi driver, Saiju Thankachan, chased the models with ill-intent, causing their accident. Saiju Thankachan chasing the models in his car was the reason behind their accident and led to their death...

Saiju has exploited many women in the past... the police allegedly recovered several pictures of girls on his phone and pictures showing drug use as well...

The report claims that Abdul Rehman increased speed of the vehicle in an attempt to save the models from Saiju...

Another related news (though not relevant to this forum) :

Models' death in Kochi: Hotel owner, 5 employees held for destroying CCTV footage

So, whole story seems to be much more than just a road accident. Not sure how many details will come in public domain.

I suspect fog to be the culprit here.
Just back from a 2000km trip. Have noticed that tailgating has become a common phenomenon on express ways. No matter, what speed, which lane, there is almost always a car chasing(read bullying) with minimal distance.

Looks like people have parked their driving disciplines at home or lost all their patience on the road, and it is increasingly more noticeable post covid.

However, didn't notice excessive tailgating on the 2 lane state highways as they are less crowded and also the occasional potholes and patched roads help to keep the speeds in check.

What a nasty turn off events. I hope all those in the racket face the law and get their share of punishment. After reading through it appears that the deceased were pulled into a trap as the hotel owner has destroyed evidence and is part of the conspiracy.

Do you think NHAI or the State Highways do not look into these while laying the road? There is so much detailed planning that goes in to these developments and the so called "living/being there for ages" are the first deterrent to these plans.

Despite such elaborate plans thee incidents are happening proves that the planning wasn't good enough.

There would be people like me who don't use Facebook and such links cannot be seen without logging in. Inference from that snap is that someone is at a beach or a water body and is kind of enjoying.

Three main things to be noticed here,

1. Autorikshaw was not at a controllable speed
2. Sudden turn of the biker without a proper indication
3. Biker's helmet is not strapped.
