Why there are regularly spaced holes on the road? Is it by road design? We don't have such roads in Bangalore? Is it an advantage?

The evenly spaced holes in the road are usually provided on turns to improve traction of the vehicles. Are very common on bridges (clover leaves) in Delhi & NCR.

But why don't they use the same technique in Bangalore? Any clue?

Daibloo, next time you drive on the hosur road flyover at Madiwala, notice that the road has these depressions. They also have gaps in the road to facilitate flow of rain water to the sides so that no puddles are present.

We do have unevenly spaced potholes!

Saw this accident the other day on NH8 while coming from Gurgaon to Delhi near the Maruti factory. I think that it had just happened a couple of minutes before I reached the spot.

Thank god no one was injured though.

Feel really sorry for the Safari owner

I guess you have to be extra carefull while braking when there is a state transport bus behind you.

These are not holes, if you notice properly, its a thick layer of bitumen/tar mix which they lay on the road as strips and then manually nail down the gravel stones into it while its warm and soft.

This is for better grips on the slopes and stopping point and it does not bulge or deform once set.
