Tutu Dhawan shares the following information & pictures:

This car only has a 3 point seat belt and it was not buckled up! As you are aware that these cars have Pre-tensioning systems on board; they are locked in their original position as you may notice from the Seat Belt Clips.

Inspite of all advice, Educated People refuse to put on seat belts and this is how they land up, with the driver having being thrown out of the speeding car. The carcase of the car will tell you all.

That is gruesome, absolutely gruesome !! All that power going through the rear wheels, wish the man behind the wheel could have been a lot more thoughtful while hitting on the gas.

I am no expert in crash analysis but there seems to be no form of Cabin Intrusion and the Airbags seemed to have deployed, wonder how a life has been lost in the process.

Anyways, R.I.P to the Driver and for the beautiful car, my heart aches looking at those pictures, won't be visiting this thread anytime soon, R.I.P again !

Oh what a horrible news..RIP owner, Yes even im guessing the same thing that the driver did nut buckle up the seat belts. He must have hit @ a very high speed hence the airbags have deployed even though, him not wearing the seatbelts.

According to a guy , who lives near the spot of the accident, at Supercars an Exotics the driver died because a pole impaled into his stomach.

Here is what he says
"the Car rammed with the yellow poles built around BRT bus stands. The car took a spin and dragged itself with the side walls and then struck a cyclist. The driver did die on the spot and air bags were very well deployed.
One of the yellow poles collided with the guys stomach, which lead to his instant death. As you can see only the driver side is affected because the car rammed through that side itself."
The car was doing 250 kmph.

Well, I'm not surprised then. Even the slightest mistake can kill you. And this is the rear-wheel drive Gallardo at that. It's a tricky car this one, and requires skill to control it correctly at that sort of speed. Much less forgiving than the all-wheel-drive Gallardo LP-560-4. But 250 km/h?

Very sad to hear of the life that was lost in this accident. Perhaps he should have eased off the pedal. Perhaps he should have thought to pull this off at the Buddh Circut instead, and leave Delhi roads for safe and controlled driving.

Heartbreaking to see a very rare car - a tribute - being ripped apart like that. It's quite a shunt.

Real Sad. How hard is it for the driver to have some respect to these powerful exotics on public roads? Even with the state of the art safety systems, anything could kill you in india just like the steel barrier rails.

Even I doubted the 250 figure, but some guys who saw the accident and the car were adamant on 250kmph.

Estimated speeds by witness are almost certainly exaggerated, most of the time. Perhaps the car had achieved 250 at some point before the crash (we'd never know), and naturally, the car would have slowed down before impact. But it's still a horrible shunt. Considering that the driver lost his life on the spot.

While there are several factors that could have caused the driver to lose his life, I'm sure speeding on a public-road is right up there at the top. Weather it was 150 or 200 or even 250, it doesn't matter now.

One also must remember that while people have walked away without so much as a scratch, from the wreckage of their cars - after hitting speeds beyond 200, some have lost their lives doing less than 100. The angle of impact matters. Speed may not be the only contributing factor.

Gross! Pains to see the such a rare car biting dust. Going by the Indian tradition, I don't think the family would prefer rebuilding the car again which killed the owner (I see it the other way round) and will be wrote off.

May his sould R.I.P. The lord shall help the family of the deceased to overcome these times.

This is why it is so important to give training to owners for their car. They must learn how to go from a 150-300BHP Mercedes or whatever luxo-barge they own to their 500+ BHP supercars and must learn their limits.

The BIC should open up its doors to people who wish to learn their cars and to know its limits on road and on a track.

He was only 26 yrs old, and had married 3 months ago as per the NDTV report.

The Lambo had a 5 point harness and not a regular seat belt. Highly likely that the driver did not bother to buckle up since it's not as easy as putting on a regular seat belt.

Overdrive magazine claims that the driver didn't wear the belts and was thrown out of the car upon impact.
