Kerala: Accident & Trauma care service launched

Quote:
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport minister Aryadan Muhammed will inaugurate Trauma Care and Road Safety Utility Service in Thiruvananthapuram ( TRUST), a new service society formed by the motor vehicles department ( MVD), here on Tuesday.

The society is aimed at rushing those injured in road accidents to hospitals within the golden hour (one hour) of the accident.

re: Kerala: Accident & Trauma care service launched

Though a noble initiative I personally feel what needs to be done is to bring all emergency services under one umbrella (like 108 services) and strengthen the infrastructure of the same. Opening parallel services may cause under-utilization of resources during time of need.

On reading the Indian Express link shared above I am confused if this is a volunteer based service, previously I remember they had roped in auto rickshaw drivers as first respondents. Where they take any accident victim to hospital and they get paid a fixed amount for that. However the Indian Express link mentions that you need to pay to enroll !!
