We don't know at what speed the test was conducted. Nor do we know the testing conditions. I would be willing to bet it was at a lesser speed than IIHS or even NCAP, otherwise they would have shared a video of the complete test.

Re: More Indian cars face Global NCAP crash tests. Edit: ZERO for all

Global NCAP has recently tested the Indian base variant of Chevrolet Enjoy and Ford Figo Aspire and the result is summarised below:

CHEVROLET ENJOY - ZERO star for Adult and **(2 Star) for Child The model tested lacked driver & co-passenger airbag and other safety equipment. As per the report, protection offered to the driver head and chest was poor. Passenger’s head protection was weak and front passengers’ knees could impact with dangerous structures in the dashboard like the Tran fascia tube. The bodyshell was rated as unstable and it was not capable of withstanding any further loadings.

FORD FIGO ASPIRE - *** (3 Star) for Adult and **(2 star) for Child. As per the report, Driver’s chest had weak protection. Here too, the front passengers’ knees could impact with dangerous structures in the dashboard like the Tran fascia tube. The bodyshell was rated as unstable and it was not capable of withstanding any further loadings.

Re: More Indian cars face Global NCAP crash tests. Edit: ZERO for all

Global NCAP released the crash test results of base variant of Indian manufactured Renault Duster and result is yet again failure.

Here is what the report says.

Car tested was a base variant which offers no airbags and was termed as unsafe for an adult sitting in the front and scored a poor 2 stars for a child seated in the back.

On request from Renault, Global NCAP tested the mid variant RxL which has driver airbag as standard was rated with 3 stars. One thing to note here is the same model made in Columbia scored a healthy 4 star [Refer -> http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...ml#post3816080] which shows how Renault is minting money by ignoring the safety of Indian buyers.

As per autocar :It found that the Duster sold in India had a smaller airbag than the one sold in Latin America.

This is pure cheating by Renault in the name of cost cutting. Why have smaller airbags for India, just to show the feature list?

From the article -

Quote:

Global NCAP observed that with the Indian Duster, the head of the driver did not make contact with the airbag in the centre as it should have, thus exposing the head to impact on the steering wheel and therefore to more risk of injuries.

Is the Duster the only car that costs more than a million rupees and still comes with a 3 star safety rating at best?

In the Indian context, Mobilio shared a 3 star rating as well. And the Scorpio, which didn't even have a stable structure, forget 3 stars!

Apparently, Tata Nexon has scored a 4-star rating in GNCAP.

https://auto.ndtv.com/news/exclusive...home-topscroll

Quite commendable, if it is exactly the one that is sold in India. I remember Tata specifically built a Zest for GNCAP. Hope, this time it is not custom built for crash testing.
