Thanks to MyCarHelpline for the heads up!

The Honda Jazz now comes with standard dual airbags (driver and passenger) across its variant line-up. Airbags were earlier equipped with the SV, V and VX trim levels. ABS and EBD are still offered only above the SV variant. With this addition, prices of the E and S trims have been increased by Rs. 12,000. Hence, the Jazz range now starts at Rs. 5.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Government of India is stressing on road safety in order to curb rising number of fatal accidents in the country. As a measure, airbags have been made mandatory on all new cars from October 2017. Various automakers have thus started offering airbags as standard across the variant line-up.

The Jazz competes in the premium hatchback segment against the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Maruti Baleno; both of which get dual airbags as standard.

With the Rs. 12,000 price hike on the E and S trims, the Jazz's updated price list is as follows:
• E MT Petrol: Rs. 5,81,200
• S MT Petrol: Rs. 6,44,800
• SV MT Petrol: Rs. 6,88,850
• V MT Petrol: Rs. 7,24,350
• VX MT Petrol: Rs. 7,73,750
• S CVT Petrol: Rs. 7,54,800
• V CVT Petrol: Rs. 8,31,550
• E MT Diesel: Rs. 7,11,750
• S MT Diesel: Rs. 7,80,350
• SV MT Diesel: Rs. 8,21,000
• V MT Diesel: Rs. 8,67,000
• VX MT Diesel: Rs. 9,09,600

Dear Honda, please reassure your existing customers before adding more airbags to your cars. Not a day goes by without me worrying that my Brio may blow my head off some day :D
