Folks complaining about 50kmph on the 4km stretch should see OMR in Chennai (ironically called the Hi speed IT expressway) and the even more ridiculous 40kmph speed limit

Is there a breakup of accidents that happen on single lane undivided highways versus divided ones? There is nothing worse than overtaking a vehicle right into the incoming lane where a bus is headed towards you - in my opinion this must contribute a lot to highway accidents.

Its good to have strict laws but this is no excuse for not having proper planned infrastructure. We should have properly planned roads, visible and functioning traffic lights. Regarding speed limit, at least in Delhi it is ridiculously low framed decades back eg elevated and fenced Badarpur Faridabad flyway has a speed limit of 50km/hr. As far as I know speed limit in Delhi is 50 km/hr. Just see the road all elevated and fenced, it's almost impossible to drive

Traffic police really need to be educated but to a certain extent their scepticism is based on bad behaviour of stunt bikers. Hope we can educate them about the importance of safety gear.

There are 2 roads from bangalore to chennai. Old madras road and a new toll road via hosur.

The old Road is a single lane road with no road dividers or any other lane paintings.

The new road is well made.
However. ..

The road divider has bougainvillea plants on it which completely blocks the view of any oncoming traffic. Dividers do not have a gradual increase in height. If someone hits a divider it's like smashing into a wall.

The old Road is a pleasure to drive on. Plenty of old trees both sides, places to go off the road to water the plants, esp. when you are with family.

I'm totally against toll roads. Not because I hate paying money. It is ruining the lives of local farmers. For thousands of years they were taking their cattle to graze by crossing roads. Now they can't.

Bullock carts are banned on these fancy roads. Where are they supposed to ride/drive Now?

City roads are crowded NOT because of traffic.

Footpaths are blocked with vegetable sellers. People walk on the road even in rare cases where a footpath is visible. Especially army areas and cantonments.

Two wheeler drivers have ZERO situational awareness. I've seen women riding activa scooters talking on the phone. Bad I agree, but that is nothing, really.

The same woman had crossed one leg over the other, like sitting on a chair at home. And going at 40-50 kmph.
