In a horrifying accident at an amusement park in Haryana, a woman died on Wednesday after her hair got tangled in the wheels of a go-kart and her scalp was ripped off.

Puneet Kaur, 28, had gone to the park in Pinjore with her husband Amardeep Singh, two-year-old son and a few other relatives.

Sad incident.
This is what happens when you allow untrained, careless people manage any form of motorsports.
Though this accident is freakish, it highlights the reason why there are so many precautions to be followed whether on track or on the road.
ANd because of this, MSM shall start clamouring for a ban on all forms of motorsports.

God bless the poor lady's soul. And I can't even imagine what her family must be going through. A holiday turned into a nightmare. Also a reminder to all of us that 'road safety' doesn't mean public roads only.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the track owner or manager. The lady's hair was wrapped in a bun and she was wearing a helmet as well. I guess just a case of awful luck.

God bless the family with the strength to cope with this horrible tragedy.

Reading about this incident brings to mind something like this that had happened with a senior of mine in school at the exact same place ( some 7-8 years ago).

Even at that time she had tied her hair and had even worn a shower cap kind of thing to protect her hair and also worn a helmet on top of that. In spite that, her hair got stuck in the motor and pulled her neck backwards.

Fortunately, somehow the kart stopped or maybe she had the presence of mind to apply brakes or her speed was slower. Whatever happened she was a very lucky person that day and our teachers had to cut her hair to free her neck.

I am quite sure there must have been multiple such incidents, not fatal, which have not been reported that might have happened at this place.

Maybe they need to look at the safety precautions being followed there?please:

I was scrolling through the news feed on my computer when I noticed this news about a freak accident in Hyderabad. Link is shared below:

After going through this news article I felt really sad to see that the root cause for this accident was that the Helmet was not fastened properly. This reminds me of countless number of people driving on the roads with a helmet just placed on their heads without ensuring a secure and proper fastening of the Straps. I feel that this mishap could have been avoided.

I don't understand why the organizers are being booked for this? where are they at fault in this?

Members please throw some light on this.

Thanks and Drive Safe!

This is not the first time an accident like that has happened on a go-kart track. I remember reading few accidents like this year's ago.

The organizers I guess were booked as they should have checked if the helmet was strapped on properly, especially since the driver was someone with long hair. They would have known that was a potential accident waiting to happen.

Very sad indeed. Really bad that a young life was lost in such a manner. It is a freak accident as you say.

If such an accident happens, the organisers will be booked for it. They should have had an attendant to check and ensure that the driver wears and fastens his / her helmet properly. In the case of someone with long hair, the attendant has to ensure that the hair is properly tied.

The go-kart in noida next to GIP has attendants checking the length of hair and asking the drivers to tie them up and ensure that a shower cap kind of cap is worn under the helmet to ensure maximum safety from hair tangle accidents. And this was I think 4-5 years ago may be. Not sure of that. I did not know that this could long hair could be an issue as it was my first time to go-kart. It is the organizers responsibility to educate and ensure all safety measures to prevent any accident. That's the reason organizers need to be booked for not keeping safety procedures in place or not following them.
