Okay, so the 'engine too much into the cabin, what would happen in an accident' apprehensions can be put to rest.

re: Mahindra Marazzo gets 4 stars in the GNCAP crash test

Great news,

Brezza's 4 stars, Nexon creating history with 5 stars and now Marazzo's 4 star rating gives some hopes to us . Good to see manufacturers are putting more effort on improving the safety of their products

Hope everyone follows this and Bharath NCAP gets in place soon.

Thumbs up to Mahindra for designing a 4 star GNCAP rated Marazzo

To be able to pass the 64kmph impact test and resisting passenger safety cage intrusion/deformation is a significant achievement.

re: Mahindra Marazzo gets 4 stars in the GNCAP crash test

Great to see that Indian Car Manufacturers have started scoring respectable stars in GNCAP Safety rating. MS Brezza, TATA Nexon and Mahindra Marazzo are shining examples of this.

Sales executives at respective brand's showroom have already started talking about this in their sales speech. GNCAP Safety rating has become a nice USP for the SAs.

That's not all, I noticed some of my friends (for whom Car safety means airbags) discussing and googling GNCAP. Thanks to media and auto-magazines for highlighting this news. It seems those days will come soon when an average car buyer will ask for the car's GNCAP rating before buying it.

Really awesome to see this! Marazzo seems like a very honest attempt and this just adds to that from a safety angle as well.

So happy and proud that Indian manufacturers are getting there!! Just 10 years ago, things were so different in a lot of ways. ESP doesnt cost much (I believe), that should be the next wish for the under 10L cars! I believe EU mandated ESP from 2017 onwards.

This is quite an uncanny coincidence. When taking the Marazzo review live, I posted:

And now, both cars have come out with superb crash test results! Even more proud of Tata & Mahindra now . The writing is on the wall. Safety is finally becoming important in the automotive space.

P.S. Interesting to see how the Nexon thread is on its 7th page, and this one is struggling to fill up the first. People are clearly more passionate about Tata. Of course, "5 stars" is a heavier rating too.

This is great! Hope M&M doesn't stop here and like Tata do the necessary improvements to achieve 5 stars. The test report says "Driver’s chest showed marginal protection".

Re: Mahindra Marazzo gets 4 stars in the GNCAP crash test

At the outset, congrats to Mahindra for designing the first 4 star GNCAP rated MPV. This rounds off what is a very competent product in the segment and worthy of the Team-BHP COTY.

  1. Having the results come out on the same day and a lower rating didn't help.
  2. The hype created by GNCAP around the first 5 star car from India didn't help either.

Yes, i hope Mahindra follows suit and do some more improvements. Anand Mahindra did tweet out the following:

Big shout out and congratulations to Tata Motors for this achievement. We will join them in proving that ‘Made in India’ is second to none...

Re: Mahindra Marazzo gets 4 stars in the GNCAP crash test

Kudos for Mahindra for giving a 4 * rated MUV. Hope they strive for a 5 * similar to what TATA did with the Nexon. They should also advertise this more along to otherwise also educate people on safety & pressurize competitors to up their build quality.
