In the side impact test, the car offered good protection to the head, thorax, abdomen and pelvis. The side pole impact test showed good protection for the head, abdomen and pelvis and marginal protection for the chest.

The rearward facing child seat offered good protection for a 3-year old during the frontal impact test. Both child dummies were well protected in the side impact.

The test car was equipped with front airbags, curtain airbags, side head airbags, side body airbags and knee airbags. It had seat belt pretensioners in the front, seat belt warning, ISOFIX anchor points, ABS and ESC.

It's good to see the new Corolla getting full 5 stars in Latin NCAP crash tests, even though this is not Euro NCAP or Global NCAP.

But this news is a bit redundant for India because Toyota is not going to continue selling the Corolla post BS6.

TNGA Corolla Euro-NCAP, ANCAP & IIHS ratings

Global NCAP rating protocols(either for Indian or African market) is less stringent than Latin NCAP.

The TNGA platform based Corolla has already been tested in Euro & Australasian NCAPs and received full 5-stars. Links here and reports attached. Rating is applicable to all three body variations (Hatch, Sedan & Estate).

Note: Since 2018 ANCAP became more stringent and test protocols and ratings were aligned with EU-NCAP.

IIHS (for US market) also have given TopSafety Pick award for the new Corolla (both hatchback and sedan). Link here.

And who told you this? What is going to be discontinued is the crappy diesel version.

You must remember the 2ZR-FE petrol engine is on duty in the USA especially the State of CA where emission norms are one of the strictest in the world.

At least the below article from Autocarindia says so. But we know that Autocar is not always correct. So let's wait till April 2020.

Regardless of what auto journals say, please remember BS6 affects diesel cars, more than petrol cars.
