Maruti usually gets some criticism on these threads but Hyundai is almost as bad. The whole six airbag spiel is putting lipstick on a pig. The i20 (African version) did go through GNCAP and guess what, unstable body structure!

I hope Tata and Mahindra continue on this wonderful course they are on - it will mean that we buy their cars not because they're Indian but because they're genuinely better engineered than the tin can rivals.

Well, Mahindra has joined the 5* bandwagon now. It is truly a proud moment for India. This should serve as a clear message to foreign car companies that Indians no pushovers when it comes to safety. If you are serious about Indian market, sell safe cars.

WOW...Altroz and XUV300 scoring back to back 5.0 in GNCAP.
Kudos to both our homegrown manufacturers for 2 great cars. Now the Tata marketing machinery needs to convert this to sales. Unless these contributes to the bottom line, MSIL will not be shaken.

Felt like adding this here- @Tata; market, along with the 5 star safety, the importance of proper driving etiquette so as to hope you never find yourself needing the airbags. We need more safe drivers too on the road, not just safer cars. Period. The time is ripe to give Maruti a run for its money, or at least try to.
