Tata Altroz gets a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP!

After the Nexon scoring a 5 star rating in GNCAP, the Altroz followed its footsteps and scored a 5 star rating.
Child Safety was rated at 3 stars.
It scored 16.13 in frontal impact test and 29.00 in child safety.
Impressive job by Tata Motors I must say. Just yesterday saw it and just can't stop loving it.
As claimed by Tata, the Altroz is slightly safer than Nexon at least in GNCAP scores where Nexon scored 16.06 and 25.00 for Front passenger and Child safety respectively.

Tata Altroz secures Five-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests

Only the second made-in-India car to receive a full 5-star rating for adult occupant protection, the Tata Altroz also scored three stars for child occupant protection.
Quote:
Global NCAP subjected Tata’s new premium hatchback to a front offset crash test as well as a side-impact test, and in its report noted the Altroz provided good protection for the driver and front passenger’s head, neck and knees, and adequate protection for the chest. The Altroz’s bodyshell was said to be stable and that it was ‘capable of withstanding further loadings’.
Quote:
It's on the child occupant protection front that the Tata Altroz takes a bit of a hit, securing three stars and scoring 29 points out of a potential 49. While protection for the 1.5-year-old child dummy was noted to be good, the backrest of the child seat for the 3-year-old child dummy (installed forward-facing with Isofix anchorages) unlatched during the crash and the dummy’s head made contact with the interior; this led to a deduction of points.

TATA’s Second Five Star Car: Altroz Delivers A Strong Result For Adult Occupant Protection

Global NCAP launches the new round of #SaferCarsForIndia crash test results today with the welcome support of the FIA Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies. The recently launched TATA Altroz reaches a strong 5 stars for adult and three stars for child occupant protection.

Global NCAP chose the entry-level model.

Tata Altroz gets a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP!-screenshot_20200115151246_chrome.jpg

David Ward, CEO and President of Global NCAP said,

“The latest result in our #SaferCarsforIndia crash tests shows a strong signal that TATA is moving its fleet to 5-star levels of safety performance. We would like to encourage all other car manufacturers in India to follow TATA’s example and bring affordable 5-star cars to Indian consumers.”

“The Indian government’s minimum crash test standards are clearly helping to eliminate any new zero star cars from the market, and we will continue to work with them to ensure the push of regulatory requirements is complimented by the pull of consumer awareness, encouraging the demand for ever higher levels of safety.”

TATA Altroz

The Altroz achieved a solid five stars for adult occupant protection and three stars for child occupant protection. The Altroz offers 2 frontal airbags as standard. Its structure and its footwell area were rated as stable. Head and neck protection for adult occupants was good. Chest protection for both adults was adequate. Child occupant protection showed good protection for the 18 month old dummy with the CRS installed rearward facing and using the standard ISOFIX anchorages. The 3 year old CRS was installed forward facing, the backrest of the seat unlatched during the crash due to the load of the top tether which was a reason for a score reduction. The head contact of the 3 years old dummy with the interior of the car, the lack of three point belts in all seating positions, and the lack of possibility of disconnecting the passenger airbag when a rearward facing CRS is installed in the passenger seat explain the three star rating for child occupant protection.

Now who didn't see this coming! Tata has been hitting confidence in terms of safety right out of the park!

What a time to get the NCAP results. This will definitely be an added advantage. I really wish this product to sell well for TML. Way to go

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

Wow Tata wow! Really a proud moment. Tata had shown with Nexon that safety does not necessarily need to come at a cost. And now Altroz! Two 5-star rated cars in its product line is a feather in its cap which no other mass market manufacturer can boast. Hope this translates into a great take off for Altroz.

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

You know people are quick to berate Tata products for inconsequential things while overlooking the emphasis Tata has put on safety. Yes Tata need to improve their fit and finish and service but they have clearly raised the bar as far as safety is concerned. Not just passive safety in terms of airbags and crash protection but also their cars these days have rock solid straight line stability, good dynamics and braking poise. If marketed well and backed up with good after sales and service Altroz can be a game changer in the market.

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

I guess about time the answer for "Kitna deti hai?" Became "5!" in the mass market.

Kudos to Tata for sticking to the plan and taking it to the finish.

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

I guess TATA volunteered to get the GNCAP tests done before the Altroz is finally launched in the market.

May be this is the real reason for the huge delay from media drives to price announcement. Anyways, good strategy from TATA.

Along with the diesel engine, this is now another solid USP - at least for a few safety conscious customers.

Well said bro, high time masses understand safety than the "Kitna Deti Hai?" banner. Tata nailed this at right time, just before the launch of Altroz. Or it can be a marketing campaign too, this is the first time a car which is not launched has been GNCAP tested. Should help Tata to sell & market the car better.

Those people who were complaining about how does Altroz differentiate from other cars in same segment? Well now you know, it has 5 Star Safety which other's don't and will help you reach everyday safely home.

This product launch looks better planned than the Harrier.

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

Wow TATA !!! You are making me proud.

Recently i convinced my uncle to hold his Baleno booking to wait for Altroz launch. Though he is not fully convinced because of TATA brand and its service center too far from my native (town panchayat where MS has its sales and service center) and he holding Alto makes me even more difficult to make him come of MS brand, i reiterated him about safety of TATA cars over Maruti Suzuki, so he with held his Baleno booking till Altroz launch and TD.

Yesterday we went to one of the TATA dealer to have a look at the Altroz in flesh, He was astonished with its looks and seems he started shifting his gear from Baleno to Altroz. Now i have additional points to make him turn towards Altroz with this 5 star label .Though he ll make his final decision only after test drive.

Oh boy! this is a great achievement by TATA to secure 5 star rating in this segment 6-9 lakhs category (Polo being an exception).

Tata has done a great job, definitely this news is going to boost the Altroz sales. Hope they release a safety variant with curtain airbags too.

Re: Tata developing a premium hatchback, the Altroz

Really proud that we now have not one, but two Made-in-India, Made-for-India 5-Star rated cars backed up by our very own Tata Motors! Kudos and hats-off to TML for their commitment to safety.

Hope the little Tiago too can achieve a similar result.

It's is only after the test is done and results released that everyone including you knows about this USP.

As for Tata, this is really commendable and should see altroz get great sales once the automatic comes in.
