Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

Hope this will be true for the variant that will be sold in our county.

Congrats to Nissan for their sincere effort in Magnite, I haven't seen such a committed launch from any of the manufacturers in the recent past!

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

It's all good news except for this fact - "Why hasn't Nissan India gone ga-ga about this achievement?"

Is Nissan that thought-lazy to not leverage the marketing mileage from a respectable 4-star rating for a sub-10 lakh car?

I will not conclude anything till Nissan India releases an official statement that the car tested by ASEAN NCAP is 100% identical to India spec in all aspects.

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

It's been 3 days since this news broke out, but WHERE IS THE REPORT SHEET? Am I being a little impatient, or did Nissan make this up? Please prove me wrong Nissan.

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

Hope Nissan comes up with an ad mentioning space, value for money and safety. People don't read Team-BHP or car magazines to get the safety angle. Car makers who do build safe cars should make it a habit to advertise safety to create awareness in people.

If people find that you don't need to pay a lot of money to get good safety, it will only encourage sales of cars other than the top 2. But hope they make it clear if it was the same as the car manufactured in India.

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

The Magnite Turbo CVT just went to the top of my list when I decide to buy a car in 2022. Of course it is yet to be seen if the test car in ASEAN NCAP is the same car mechanically which is sold in India since Nissan hasn't revealed any export information just yet. https://www.rushlane.com/nissan-magn...-12388209.html

If its true, which i sincerely hope it is! Nissan ought to market the hell out of it. Proper automatic, FTD & safe car under a million rupees, its a revelation of sorts and if this can't change fortunes for Nissan in India, nothing will!

Funnily, the swift which scored 4 star in ASEAN NCAP has its kerb weight listed at 885 Kg on ASEAN NCAP's site which also happens to coincide with suzuki India's 855-885 Kg from their own official website which managed just 2 stars in GNCAP, as pointed out by BHPian Sanidhya mukund.

To be fair, GNCAP had a car with crash test weight of 1079, which I'm not sure how to correlate to the Kerb weight reported by ASEAN NCAP (885). The brochure does say 855-880 BTW.

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

Don't you all think the killer pricing by Nissan is attributed to the company compromising in terms of features somewhere? Is it not the manufacturer's last ditch effort to remain in the country after having tried all?

My wild guess- GNCAP may factor in the weight of the crash test dummies for reporting the crash weight. I can't say for certain though, because I couldn't find how they measure the crash weight in their adult occupant protection assessment pdf. One thing to note though, GNCAP crash weights are a good amount more than the manufacturer specified kerb weights of their vehicles (I cross checked the kerb weight of the old nexon from its manual and its crash weight from GNCAP to be sure).

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

Sirish Chandran of Evo India had a zoom call with Mr.Shrivastava of Nissan earlier today and it seems that Mr.Shrivastava has confirmed that the Magnite tested in ASEAN NCAP is of the same spec as the one being sold in India.

Link to tweets thread: https://twitter.com/SirishChandran/s...974941697?s=19

Also only the base variant will see a price increase. Rest all will remain at the same prices as before.

Srivastava confirmed the India-spec Magnite would eventually also be sent for the Global NCAP crash tests.

Re: Nissan Magnite scores 4-stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test

I am not sure, but reading across various reports and news items that even the Datsun Go/Redigo cars have been beefed up a bit after the initial GNCAP scores.

The new Datsun Go is far better from the initial model. I saw the new GO CVT on display when I went to the showroom for TD of Magnite. I could feel the difference just by opening the door and closing it (we have a Datsun GO T in family).
