re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

Just came here after getting the notification for Autocar India video for this (I already knew that it would be a good rating otherwise they tend to delay releasing results when a manufacturer performs poorly in these tests).

Kudos to Renault for doing this. Just one more reason for customers looking for an occasional MPV to ditch the Ertiga and go for this. Here is hoping that they bring in the turbo petrol with the CVT too. If the mileage figures for the Magnite are any indication then this too should be decent.

Edit: Not happy with its unstable platform comment though. This one is built on the CMFA+ platform but I don't remember an unstable platform comment from the ASEAN NCAP test for Magnite.

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

WOW! That's impressive.
I really did not expect that from a Triber.

But wait, is this the Triber which is sold globally or the one sold in SAARC Region and Africa?

What I mean to say is, if Renault tests the Triber manufactured for Indian market, will it have the same rating?

This is brilliant!

The Triber is already such a great VFM package, this is really great news.
Cars need to become safer in India - other manufacturers should also step up on this front!

The bodyshell was rated as unstable according to the crash test report - see https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...fact+sheet.pdf.

Rather unexpected that it still managed four stars!

That's a great result for Renault and a bit of a surprise as well.

Kudos Renault for building a safer and VFM car.

This is for the Indian version of Triber which is built in India for our markets.
The first image of GNCAP results mentions the same.

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

Happy to see that manufacturers not skipping on the safety aspect now. This shows that it is entirely possible for manufacturers to provide good safety even in cheap cars. Seems like they have learned from their mistakes which made the Kwid score 1 star.

Now we have few options for buying a safe and reliable car. It's no more either reliability or safety (If you know what I mean)

This is for the car made in India and sold in India.

Really surprising considering the fiasco with Kwid earlier.

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

That's quite impressive for such a VFM car. Renault just nailed it. I always liked the car, now it's more confidence inspiring too.

GNCAP should be appreciated for pushing the safety boundaries in India, and Tata and then M&M for voluntarily taking the lead. But still Hyundai/Kia are like lets throw in few more features(and that too at a premium cost for the additional features) and we are set, Maruti is like we are meeting the minimum standards set by regulatory authorities. These guys are just shameless and most of the media is by their side, so they give safety a pass.

It is definitely the Triber that is sold here in India because in the start of the video you can see '#SAFERCARSFORINDIA', which is the program under which GNCAP tests cars sold in India.

On a different note:
It clearly shows that if the manufacturer has good intent, manufacturing safe cars at low prices is not impossible. Tata had shown it before with the Tiago, tigor, nexon and altroz and now Renault has done it with the Triber.
It also confirms that the perceived build quality from the weight of doors, bonnet is in no way a clue that the car is safe. What matters is how much focus has been give to the structural strength.

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

Kudos to Renault for making safer cars and improving from their earlier crash test with the Kwid. Great to see that there are safer choices for the masses, especially since most people buy from below 10 lakhs. The Triber already was a pretty great car with its seating and now the safety is the icing on the cake. Only if Renault could bring the 1l Turbo to it and it would be an even better package overall.

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

That's a surprise

With what they played in for Kwid and Duster, this one got me shocked. This is an extremely VFM car, and this rating has simply added more to the appeal.

Now since the build is proven, if you are listening Renault; put in the 1.0 turbo in this car now.

And yes, it's time for Marketing guys to go back to the field.

I am sure that nobody would have expected a 4 star rating, at least for this van.

For those who have a doubt on this being for India, all GNCAP videos come with this note on the bottom left about the country where the car is made, and where the ratings are valid:

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

Kudos Renault. The Triber is an understated car. Now with this rating, its definitely increased its value proportion and it may find its way into more homes. I feel that now is the time for Renault to plonk in the turbo-petrol from the Kiger into the Triber.

Renault, Tata, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, VAG, etc have proved that building a safe car under 1 million rupees is viable. Meanwhile KIA gives us a measly 3 star-rated car for 2 million rupees.

re: Renault Triber gets a 4-star GNCAP rating!

This is really unexpected . Never expected the Triber to be this safe considering lots of comments about its built quality was spread among Youtube and other social media.

Kudos to the Renault team for pure innovation for creating a new segment and value for money 7 seater with no compromise on safety

Great result for Renault and this once again proves that you don't need thick heavy sheet metal to achieve good crash results. If 5L rupee cars are able to achieve such results, it shows how far Hyundai/Kia have gone in compromising the structure for their much more premium products.

Unstable structure means that the body shell cannot take more loading without injury to the occupants. Even the Tiago scored 4 stars with a unstable body shell rating.
