Just received this video via whatsapp in which a Hyundai Venue fell in a hole as road caved in maybe , the pit was so huge and full of water the venue disappeared in the water. I hope there are no casualties but don't know why the lights are on of the car. No location of the accident is yet known can't find any news related to it as well.Sharing gif created from the video-

Looks like the car was parked at a spot that developed a huge sinkhole. I am praying there were no occupants or pets in the car when it happened! 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Just seen that, looks like a Venue, quite disheartening. Wonder why the tail lamps were on, hope there's no one inside the car.

The brake lights are illuminated. Was there someone inside or did he just leave the car turned on?

Stuff shorts out as the car goes under water. Of course, the battery doesn't last long once submerged, but while it does, odd things happen. I've seen my car sink to the waist in flood water: lights came on, windscreen wipers started.

Re: Pics: Accidents in India

There was an old well, that was covered by concrete, half of it was utilised for creating parking space and the other as seen in the video.

Brake lights of the car are on mostly because of a short or water has filled the front portion of the car causing the brake pedal to get pressed due to the pressure created by the water gushing into the car.

That's the reason as stated by Mumbai Police.

It looks horrible. Hope no one was inside the car when it happened. It just went inside so fast.

I don't think that someone can ever bring back that car? Will the insurance cover it? As per traffic police, previously there was a well at that place so technically the car was wrongly parked.

Re: Pics: Accidents in India

The Hyundai Venue which sinked earlier today in Mumbai was lifted up successfully.

The part which caved in was right beside the well where the car was found out.

How will the insurance company act now ? Flood/Water Damage ?

The well is pretty deep, pure negligence of the housing society’s builder!

Video of the Venue being lifted out from the well. That is no proper way to close off an old well. Looks like tar was laid over some wafer thin planks or slabs ! If they were planning to make it a parking space, where the weight of vehicles can be overwhelming, they should have made a well supported structure that can bear the weight of vehicles. As usual, people learn from their mistakes and this will be properly closed off this time. Regarding insurance, it would be interesting to hear how that story develops !

Re: Pics: Accidents in India

This is downright scary. Reminded me of that accident some years ago, where Dr Amrapurkar was sucked into an open manhole cover during Mumbai rains.

Actually there is.
Raise the wall by say 1 foot.
Cover with a simple grille.
Revenue loss (in this case) : one parking slot
