Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

First of all, standing bang in the middle of a busy road in heavy traffic is a bad idea.
Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em-photo0307.jpg

Next, getting your pillion rider to get that 1 rupee gutkha packet from the stalls across the road is another story!
Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em-photo0309.jpg
And all the while jabbering away on the mobile is priceless Such people should not be allowed at all on the road.
Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em-photo0310.jpg

And, I thought dark tints were banned, but it seems they are banned only for rule following people like you and me! Not for the law keepers!!

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Here is another person who does not know how or where to park a car.
Pic taken Kanakapura Road, Jayanagar 7th Block, at 11:30 this morning. Notice the massive amount of free kerbside space in the foreground (bottom right of picture)?

Why? Why? Why?

Wish there was a law enforced that fined people for parking with their wheels more than some 6 inches away from the kerb.

I've seen people stop their bikes smack in the middle of the road to answer the phone or go buy gutka/cigarettes!

Remember Pink Panther? I think we need Inspector Clouseau to enforce strict parking etiquettes

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

I was driving back to thrissur from Ernakulam today afternoon. Car was fully loaded as my parents, sister, her husband and their 8 month old baby was travlling with me.

I was driving very carefully to avoid sudden speed changes as my sister and baby was in the back seat and was not wearing seat belts.
The incident happened when I was approaching the new Fly over near Potta Jn. This is a 3 lane (one direction) bridge and I was in the middle lane doing around 60kmph. There were few two wheelers in the left most lane. I can see a Skoda approaching from behind on the right lane and an Alto K10 directly behind me in the middle lane. Skoda guy overtook the Alto first and was approaching to pass my car. The very moment Skoda was overtaking me, the Alto moved to the left most lane and overtook me from left side. He squeezed between our car and the two wheelers and cut me in from the left. As the right lane was occupied by Skoda, I have to apply sudden brake to avoid hitting him. We were shocked by this sudden move and the only thing saved my sister and her baby was the slow speed we were doing.

I lost my cool (I shouldn't have, I agree ) at that moment and started to chase him down. Caught up with him in another 5 mins or so and forced them to stop by blocking his way. My BIL who was on the co passenger seat, rolled down the window and gave him a piece of his mind. A teenager was driving the Alto and his parents(I assumed) was travelling with him. They were terrified (never expected this I blieve) and could not even open their mouth !

I know I shouldn't have given in to road rage but the very thought of baby being harmed due to a stupid act by a moron made me behave like this.

road rage or not, I hope the parents make this driver learn the lessons.

Ahhh, you did not use the quote button, hence i wouldn't know if you were pointing at my post. I was generally reading all the latest post and saw my name. Thought you might have meant some other Mayank and looked at the posts above and realized it was me. .

Anyways, i do agree in principal that i should not black out the number, but in this case i did as the guy (if he reads team-bhp) would come to know about his mistake and maybe not do it next time. Now if i see this happen again with the same car the next pic would come with numbers on it.

(Sort of first warning).

And yes i work for retail org in Whitefield. Glad to see another T-BHPian in office. Why don't we meet up.

Under MVA, Police, Paramilitary, Military and Government vehicles which may be used as Escort for/take as passenger any high ranking official (government servant) or person whose life is deemed to be at risk can have windows/windshields which can be darkened by film/curtain to obscure the identity of the person.

(This is from what I remember from my days at RSP)

Teenagers like him are the menace on the Kerala roads now, irrespective of them being on two or four wheels. You were doing a safe speed and got saved by the skin of your teeth. The teen never thought that way about his parents but they also got saved because of your righteous action.

The teen would have got carried away with his especial Alto. But he learned his, probably first driving lesson.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

This happened today evening at Shenoy's junction. I slowed down as a KSRTC bus was coming in the opposite direction and was taking a right turn in front of me. Just then a motorcyclist also crossed the junction from the left to the right, and I had to stop completely. A Santro behind me started honking several times impatiently as if I had stopped in the middle of the road for no reason. I allowed him to overtake me so that I could see the 'gentleman'. He was around 50 years of age and his son and wife were with him. I started chasing him down until the next signal honking several times just to let him know how it feels to get honked unnecessarily. Well mister, if you are reading this, I was driving a silver Swift.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Well driving in Kerala can be really tricky. Earlier this month I was in Kerala on official visit. Since it was a two day trip, was staying at my place in Kottayam and driving to Kochi. People familiar with the area would know the staight and narrow stretch between Kanjiramattom and Poothotta...Its close to 1.5 kms of straight road, with a canal on one side and buildings on other and it is just wide enough for two buses to pass.

I was on this stretch doing around 65-70, I could hear an RX100 crying out, but couldnt see him at all. A speeding limited stop bus was approaching from opposite direction. And I just got the glimpse of a green (wierdest of green) modified (Pathetically modified, with square headlamps and ridiculous LEDs and stickers) Yamaha on my left RVM. All of a sudden I saw the bus driver flashing his lights, I checked in RVM to see if anybody is trying to overtake me. There was hardly any distance between the bus and my car and to my surprise, I see the Yamaha Guy trying to overtake me through the right and squeeze in between myself and the bus. I had to break hard to avoid him. But the guy lost balance and fell. He rolls to the side of the road, the bike slips under the bus, who also had to break pretty hard.

Now with all the commotion , a small crowd gathered and the Bike Guy removes his helmet to reveal Long, colored, oily hair with a "Mariboro" tee and pathetically patterned Jeans , shouts at me that I rear ended him. So there were demands to take him to hospital , fix the bike...Since the Bike was still under the bus , the whole stretch was blocked. Fortunately for me a Police Jeep arrived at the scene. We both explained our versions of the story. He stated that I was trying to overtake him and tipped him over. Hearing this the bus driver intervened and he stated exactly what happened.

Now the crowd changed sides , the bike guy was a rash driver and I was the victim all of a sudden. The Cop asked for our licenses and Surprise Surprise he doesnt have one...Police guy asked me if , I would want to file a complaint , which I didnt want. He told me to leave as there was already a traffic jam . So - 30 minutes of my life waited just coz a nincompoop fancied himself to be Valentio Rossi.

Unnecessary honking is a common trend in Kerala. To some extend I can understand the honking by Private buses and cabs. But it's really sad to see the so called gentlemen driving expensive cars behave like this.

Something of this sort happened to us in Bangalore - Indiranagar 100ft road. My wife and me were on my bike and this young kid comes up behind us and starts honking; at the same time he was on the phone too! It was not like I was holding traffic to something (c'mon, how much space would a CBZ take on a 100ft road?). So he's honking away to glory with his squeaky Pulsar horn and I just lose it! I let him pass and he has no clue what's in store for him - them Bosch twins

As soon as he passes I start honking in short and long blasts at regular intervals. This he tried to run away, but I chased him and repeated the drill. After about a kilometer, he gives up and stops his bike on the side. As I pass him, I raise my visor and give him the dirtiest stare I could muster and then zoomed away!

Hope he learnt his lesson for the day - never mess with a guy on a CBZ, specially when his wife is with him

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Oh how i can relate to this. Saturday evening on my way from HSR layout back to Jayanagar at BTM this Innova guy kept blaring. In front of me was a slowcoach car and you know the traffic at that hour. I slammed the breaks gout out and asked the guy what his problem was? To my surprise he did not even lower the glass and just kept staring ahead In the car i presume his family must have taken him to task for his actions.

He overtook me and we caught up at the next signal and he again started his urge of honking! well this time i was behind him and boy he was again taken to task by the motorist ahead of him. What sort of behavior is this?

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Few bad drivers spotted

Traffic was held up for quite some time here and this Swift and Auto decides to worsen it.

Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em-img00662201106171734.jpg

More spotted at this particular junction
1) The cyclist decides to take the middle of the road. From the way he was driving guess he was drunk.
2) Bus tries to squeeze it's way through. The vehicles on the right stop beside the bus and the cars coming from the left decides to take right. You can see the bumper of a car on the right side of the bus. A major confusion here.
